The Bisons bested the Bats on Tuesday, shutting out Louisville 6-0. The Herd's stellar play continues, as the clubs' winning streak moves to eight games. The Bisons also notch their third shutout in their last five games.

Buffalo's pitching, led by starter Drew Hutchison, kept the Bats off the base paths all game, limiting Louisville to two hits and two walks.

Hutchison hurled 6.0 innings of one-hit ball, improving his record to 6-3, and lowering his ERA to 2.78.

Melky Mesa picked up the Herd's first hit off starter Daniel Wright in the top of the third, drilling a stand-up double. Andy Burns gave the Bisons a 1-0 lead two batters later, scoring Mesa on a RBI single.

Burns came through again in the fifth, knocking home a pair of runs with a two-out, two-run double.

In the top of the sixth, Domonic Brown followed Jesus Montero's leadoff double with a two-bagger of his own, scoring Montero and making it a 4-0 Buffalo ballgame.

Hutchison allowed just one hit during the first five innings, fanning four batters. He issued his first walks of the game in the sixth, before Matt Dominguez fielded a chopper at third, stepped on the base, and threw to first for an inning-ending double play.

Daniel Wright pitched 5.0 innings for the Bats, allowing four earned runs, six hits, and three walks, while striking out seven Bisons. His Triple-A record falls to 1-3 on the season.

Darrell Ceciliani drove in his 12th run of 2016 in the top of the eighth, scoring Tony Sanchez on a single to center. Jesus Montero homered for the second straight game in the top of the ninth, depositing his ninth home run over the right field fence.

Veteran Franklin Morales took over on the mound in the bottom of the seventh, appearing in his second rehab game with Buffalo. With a runner on first and one out, Melky Mesa fielded a ball in centerfield, and threw to first base to complete another double play. The Bisons have turned 13 double plays in their last five games.

Mesa showed further defensive prowess in the bottom of the eighth. With Brett Cecil in to pitch in his scheduled rehab appearance, Jermaine Curtis drove a ball to deep left-centerfield. Mesa ran down the hard-hit ball, covering a large swash of acreage to track the ball down for an out.

Sidearmer Chad Girodo pitched a perfect ninth inning in his first appearance with the Bisons since June 11.

Matt Magill relieved Daniel Wright in the sixth inning for the Bats, coming in with two runners on and no out. The 26-year old righty retired the next three hitters to escape the jam. Stephen Johnson and Nick Routt both pitched out of the bullpen for Louisville, allowing a combined five hits and two runs.

The finale of the Bisons' three-game series in Louisville will take place at 7:05 on Wednesday. Scott Diamond is set take the mound for the Herd, and he will be opposed by Keyvius Sampson. Buffalo then heads home to begin a four-game series against the RailRiders on Thursday.

BISONS NOTES:

Drew Hutchison now has won his last four starts, and has allowed two earned runs or less in nine of his last 14 games… Jesus Montero and Tony Sanchez both extended their hitting streaks to seven games. Montero now has six straight multi-hit games… The last time the Herd won as many has eight straight contests was 2013, when they won nine games in a row from April 15-22.

MANCHESTER - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats fell victim to repeated miscues in the field and dropped a crushing loss on Tuesday, falling 6-4 to the Hartford Yard Goats at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

The Fisher Cats (32-44) lost their fourth straight game, falling to a season-worst 12 games below .500. The Yard Goats (42-33) scored five unanswered runs to jump ahead of New Hampshire, setting up a potential sweep on Wednesday. New Hampshire committed a season-most four errors in the loss.

New Hampshire opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning against Hartford starting pitcher German Marquez. Christian Lopes hammered a leadoff ground-rule double to left field, and Roemon Fields drew a walk before Jason Leblebijian singled to load the bases. Rowdy Tellez poked a single through the right side of the infield to score Lopes, and Ryan Lavarnway scored Fields on a double play to give New Hampshire the 2-0 lead. The Fisher Cats got another in the bottom of the second, as Ian Parmley found his way to third base with Jorge Flores at first. A ball in the dirt sent Flores scampering toward second, but he was thrown out. However, Parmley came in to score, making it 3-0 in favor of New Hampshire.

Hartford got on the board in the top of the fifth inning, as Ryan McMahon cracked a leadoff single before Jackson Williams singled him to third base. Zach Osborne bounced into a double play, with McMahon scoring to trim the lead to 3-1.

The Fisher Cats got that run back in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs and the bases empty, Roemon Fields battered a fastball to deep right field, sending it out of the yard for his second homer of the season. The dinger ran New Hampshire's advantage to 4-1.

Hartford answered in the top of the sixth inning. Raimel Tapia led off with a single, and scooted to third when Dawson's pickoff attempt was wild. With two outs, Dillon Thomas hit a hard bouncer through the right side, scoring Tapia and cutting New Hampshire's edge to 4-2. The Yard Goats drew closer in the top of the seventh, as McMahon rapped a leadoff double to right before moving to third on a wild pitch. Williams singled him home to make it a 4-3 ballgame.

The Yard Goats finally surged into the lead in the top of the eighth inning against Fisher Cats reliever Tim Mayza (BS, 1; L, 0-1). David Dahl led off with a double, and Mayza walked Pat Valaika, allowing Thomas to sacrifice the runners to second and third. Mayza fanned Rosell Herrera, but McMahon hit a slow roller to the right. Matt Dean flipped to Mayza, but the pitcher missed the bag for an error, and both Dahl and Valaika scored, putting Hartford ahead 5-4.

Hartford snagged an insurance run in the top of the ninth against Fisher Cats reliever Chris Smith, who allowed a leadoff double to Zach Osborne. Michael Benjamin bunted Osborne to third, and Tapia hit a grounder that Lopes booted at second base, allowing Osborne to come in and make it 6-4.

Dawson didn't factor in the decision, throwing six innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits while fanning four. Brady Dragmire fired a perfect inning of relief for New Hampshire. Mayza gave up two unearned runs in two-thirds of an inning, striking out one against one walk and one hit. Chris Smith gave up an unearned run on one hit and a walk in 1.1 innings while striking out one.

The Fisher Cats will try to avoid the sweep Wednesday night, with right-hander Luis Santos starting for New Hampshire against Hartford lefty Carlos Hernandez. First pitch from Northeast Delta Dental Stadium is at 7:05 p.m., and Tyler Murray has the call starting at 6:45 p.m. on the Fisher Cats Radio Network.

Good for Hutch. SRF continues to be a beast. Borucki solid. Alford shows life.
