Agree, this trade hurt me and definitely sold low. I just had real issue with his playing time going forward and I'm win now. So why not?

 

People are always so reactionary. Best case scenario for Profar is like Yunel Escobar. I already communicated with the people who fapped over Profar, and none of them were willing to give up what I consider interesting core pieces for him. So really, it's all just smoke-blowing. Also, I think you pretty clearly beat me on the draft pick side of the deal, a 2nd round pick for a 2-slot upgrade in a flat draft class is pretty good. Tillman is a solid innings eater mid rotation guy on a team that should help him get to a good win total, he's a perfectly cromulent asset in this format.

I probably won't even trade Profar. I like his chances of contributing across all categories without killing me, he's a solid utility player. He's got 2B and 3B locked down for next season, and is 3 starts away from SS, so that's not bad. Obviously, his bat doesn't play well at 1B. I don't think he'll ever be the star we thought he was in 2012, although ironically, back then, I was the low man on Profar.

These two sentences are either very much at odds with each other, or we have very different valuations of a Yunel Escobar type player.

I didn't say I was trying to trade him straight up, and obviously evaluations will differ from owner to owner.

The holds are probably more valuable for you this year anyway, unless you were hoping to flip him.

 

After Colome comes back, possibly, yet his role isn't exactly etched in stone either. We have plenty of holds guys, would've just took Tazawa...:P

I don't have much of a problem with him being hopeful with asking that kind of price (although it sure kills any trade talk immediately), but rather the comment about everyone interested blowing smoke.

It was a good offer. But I wasn't interested in dealing the guy you wanted anymore (which in all fairness you might not have realized), I didn't have a need for the center piece (should probably have realized in a deal like that), nor did I approach you, so your claim that we were all blowing smoke or whatever is kinda BS.

You said it was a vetoable deal, which is preposterous unless you think a player involved is an elite asset. You're the one who framed Profar's supposed value, so I called your bluff. It was a joke offer to begin with.

We don't veto trades here. It was facetious. Profar has good value and I'm happy to trade for him if we find a fit that helps my team, but that's difficult cause I'm definitely not playing him at short so there isn't a ton of point.

 

If I didn't have Machado I would have countered your trade.
