BTS Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I feel like we all know who abom is going to take, and waiting for him to announce it is just a formality.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I feel like we all know who abom is going to take, and waiting for him to announce it is just a formality. I sure don't. I don't really know anything about abom's tendencies.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Injured or recently injured pitchers with good stuff. Nobody near the top of my board fits that description, so I hope you're right. Also, I just realized Jon Gray isn't eligible for this draft. I totally missed his debut.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I think it could be an OF or P One's name is an anagram for Big Burnt Balsa The other is Mr Milky Zee.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 LMAO @ "arm bar". It's like these people actually have no idea about the mechanics that go into a high level swing. http://i.imgur.com/4DJ6Vgk.gif I guess Donaldson needs a swing makeover. I think when you see a player "arm bar", it's an almost necessary component of a high level power swing. Like keeping your left arm straight in golf. If I was a physicist I could probably explain something about leverage or torque or whatever. So when a scouting report knocks someone for having an "arm bar", give that player a + in your books. Unless they are a speed/contact type of player, that probably means that they have a good swing.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Have to think part of the Gallo hype was also because he looks like he can play a passable 3B, not too often 1B get super hype. I can't remember the last time one did, tbh I think it was mostly just the .344 ISO and the godly production (his wRC+ was over 200 at some stops).
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Okay, but Donaldson has elite bat speed.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Okay, but Donaldson has elite bat speed. Where does the bat speed come from? The whip he creates with his mechanics. People don't "have" bat speed innately. They create it with physics (and maybe some muscles, I dunno how it works, I'm just an internet poser). In almost every high level swing there is a point where the hips are initiated, the front arm is essentially locked, and the bat is still behind the hitter. I call this the NJH position, or the power V.

Laika Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 And not in this league I'm actually a silent co-manager, so there
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 It seems like people gravitate towards drafts. Pretty sure Boxy was the most active poster in the LOD thread during the recent draft.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Hey, we are Mazara bros now! Think we see him in Texas this year once Hamilton's crack laden body gets injured?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Think we see him in Texas this year once Hamilton's crack laden body gets injured? For sure. The Rangers had him in AAA as a 20 year old, he's fast-tracked. Plus Hamilton suxxxxxx, and Choo is pretty injury-prone as well. DeShields suxxx too, but that doesn't really help. Hate to say it but the Rangers are going to be scary good this year. C Lucroy??? Probably IMO 1B Moreland/Gallo 2B Odor/Profar 3B Beltre/Gallo SS Andrus/Profar CF DeShields/Brinson OF Choo/Gallo/Mazara OF Hamilton/Mazara/Gallo DH Fielder Darvish/Hamels Pretty damn good and should be for years.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I wouldn't say "scary good" Two legit aces and a lineup without any real weak spots, if they upgrade at C. Mazara, Brinson, Gallo and Odor are all potential all-stars under control past 2020. They should be quite formidable.

I don't see them being better than the Astros right now or in the long term. WC contender for sure.

The Stros have a great team too, no doubt. I think Keuchel will take a step back this year, though. I look forward to BTS drafting him ahead of Gerrit Cole and Madison Bumgarner.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 You also though head going to suxxxxx in 2015 though. I never said he suxxx. He's a great SP2, at least. I doubt he's a legit ace. I wouldn't take him ahead of, say, Price, Felix, Syndergaard, Stras, Carrasco, DeGrom, Harvey, etc.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I have ****automobile's picks.
