MLB transaction page question

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but sure of this term of this...

 

On the mlb transaction page

 

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/transactions/?tcid=mm_mlb_news#month=9&year=2015

 

It will say Team _____ select the contract of ______ from Team ____ does this mean that the MLB team now owns that contract type thing? unless they then declare for free agency
