HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Stroman didn't look sharp, but a lot better than this line indicated. He's pretty much in Spring Training form right now, and he had a no hitter heading into the 5th. Two weak ass singles and a bomb ruined his line. From what I saw his curveball was good but he didn't have great control of his four seamer. I didn't see any change-ups tonight.

I think he threw one in one of Brendan Ryan's at bats and got a whiff, looked pretty nasty. Could be wrong though.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Really hard to evaluate with the rain. A lot of pitchers struggled in the game. Seemed to have a few command issues but the stuff looked pretty good. The Groundballs were great to see.

flafson Verified Member Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I found it funny that his family left as soon as he was pulled out of the game.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 His stuff looked really good. Really? I thought he looked good for a 1st start in the rain. But his stuff wasn't inducing many swing and misses and he wasn't getting the chase down and in or away he was last year. Hi 4 seamer averaged about 94 MPH 2014 and he topped out at 94 yesterday. I'm more than happy with what I saw. I thought he looked to be fading in the 5th.

Reminds me of Christmas concerts at school... So many parents leave as soon as their kids class sings... By the end of the evening when the last class is up half the gym is empty.

I went over those numbers after I posted and that GB% is really encouraging.
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 No more swan dives off the mound, please Stro.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Not to be too corny but is anyone else really excited to see Stro go full circle on his comeback and take our bump in our house...to be welcomed back by our fans. I can't wait to watch him pitch us to a victory at home.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 I'm excited for what Stroman can do in the post season. I'm not feeling too good about the Boston series - they are reaaaaal hot offensively and Stroman is still in Spring Training mode. However I think he is going to be a better pitcher than Hutch/Buehrle and he will be at regular season mode when October hits.
