baubau Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Probably the worst time to extend Estrada.. I am on the fence if you even bring him back for next season but he probably provides enough utility/depth to justify it.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Lol. Half a season left. This is not the next Archer.
Smokey Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Lmao... http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/25224096/marco-estradas-on-a-roll-but-hes-still-marco-estrada
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 How long is he under control for?
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 I think he could be the next Jose Bautista, of pitchers. Could be our next ace.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 If anything, look to sell high on him.
LTR Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Estrada = Villanueva Some useful innings out of the pen. Some useful starts when you're shorthanded. But he's the type of pitcher that you hope is never in your rotation long term (recent success aside). Maybe he's figured something out and will continue to give the team strong performances, but we've seen this movie before...and it usually ends with us being underwhelmed in the end. Shut up.
LTR Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 No thanks. That response when you don't even know what the contract/price would be is pretty dim. He's good depth at the very least.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Hes been a nice surprize for me. I liked him in the bullpen in the long role but he looks very capable in the rotation right now. Let the season play out and let someone else break the bank on him. We need to target top of the rotation starters. We don't want to be one of those teams that overpay for back end starters. And we haven't been under AA. I'd rather Estrada than Dickey and Thole going into next year. lol But Estrada is already 31 and I'd be careful about him going forward. He's the kind of guy that is great to have as a swing man as you say, but I dont think you want to be counting on him for 30 starts.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 This could be signature worthy in a couple of weeks. Agreed...because it was a great call!
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 He's 100% right... You're coming across as being jealous.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 You're coming across as being jealous. I like Estrada. I've thought since the trade that he should be in the rotation and hated that he was being used in low-leverage relief. I just don't think he's a guy you look extension with. There's a ton of better talent hitting the market this offseason.

pat_borders Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 5 years $100 M Get ur dun AA!!!! He was on par with Scherzers last start and pitches in the ALE, so lets at least use scherzer money as the starting pt
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Quick lock up Colabelo 2 weeks ago while we are at it!
pat_borders Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I doubt Estrada or Dickey will be on this team next year. Dickey would have to be lights out to even get his option picked up. His second halfs have been better as a Blue Jay but I would be shocked if we got much from him going forward. Just hoping he can keep us in games and eat some innings. I think Dickey will be back for sure, his option isn't that expensive even though he's terrible
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I think Dickey will be back for sure, his option isn't that expensive even though he's terrible I seriously doubt that.
pat_borders Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I seriously doubt that. 13 Million for a guy who eats innings is going rate, I don't want him back but I'll take the bet that they pick up his option
KIllerSloth Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Maybe see how he does the rest of the year first.
