o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Unfortunately, the Gibbons venting thread has been turned into the "Dry-Hump Hoffman" thread. I DON'T CARE! venting in the GDT will get you banished to a cold dark place.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Yup send him down and bring up Delabar, hand the closer role back to Cecil to hopefully build his confidence back up. Osuna's been my favorite reliever this year, the kid is one cool customer but I agree he's getting run ragged. unfortunately Navarro got hurt instead of traded. I really think he was supposed to be used to get a pen arm, but no one wanted him and his being hurt won't help that happen. I dont know if under-the-bar will help this team.

That's definitely unfortunate. Hard to say. He's pissed off so maybe he can channel some of that inner fire, worth a shot at this point imo.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 We miss you Casey Janssen! Would have definitely been worth 5 mil for one more season. No.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 "Ideally, we’ll get some defined roles, right now it’s really just kind of a crapshoot." Uh... you're the f***ing manager... I think this is more of a shot at AA pulling strings, to be honest.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 To pull him from the spot after one game, and hand it to a rookie who hasn't pitched in AA, is going to piss him off. And it's going to piss off a lot of vets on the team. He's managing people here, not numbers. I've always appreciated his pen management, but haven't been on the same page with him at all this season. I was stunned how quickly the plug was pulled on Cecil as closer, especially considering it arguably happened because Cecil didn't field a sharp comebacker cleanly (think back to game 2 @NYY). Anyone who has worked anywhere will probably agree with any speculation that the BP is probably just a group of dejected rookies and disgruntled vets at this point (all the way down to AAA too, where Delabar reads big league box scores with a half smile). I've worked in environments in which the director or manager's decisions aren't well regarded by the employees and s*** can get toxic fast. Consider major league egos, huge salaries, and the fact that failure can happen nightly on national TV and you probably have a very tense, very frustrated bunch. Why does some kid who's never faced anyone older than most players' little brothers suddenly get centre stage at Fenway Park or Yankee Stadium, and right after the senior-most member and proven arm gets publicly yo-yo'd out of the bullpen king's role over a time frame of days? Let's not even get started on the effect this is having on the rest of the position players.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 "Managers don't matter," though. Just look at all the success we've had with this moron in charge! Rinse and Repeat...

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 One bright spot, Sanchez pitched well. Hutch, Norris and Sanchez have turned in very good to excellent starts.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 We are not as Good we think we are and not as bad as we have played so far! Without our Band of Rookies and Part timers imagine how few games we would have won! When this team Gels or Starts playing on all cylinders, sit back and enjoy it !

The young Guns will be fine, Shanchez has another outing like last night and the crows will not be safe! The dude that hit the home run should have never seen that pitch according to pitch tracker Shanchez struck em out thank the blind ump for that.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I was really surprised and impressed with Sanchez after the first. He got his hand on top of the ball, took a bit of velocity off and did a damn good job. He's going to take his lumps and I still expect him to end up as a reliever long term but it was nice to see that he did make the changes he needed to last night.

I'm still not convinced this is going to work but at times he shows why he's been such a tantalizing prospect for so long and why he's been put in this position in the first place. We saw a lot of the good Sanchez in this last start. We also saw plenty of the bad one, not only in the first inning but also towards the end where it took a lot of defensive heroics to keep him in position to win. If he keeps tantalizing the team with moment of brilliance and runs into some good fortune, this experiment could last for awhile.
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Isn't everyone venting in here? lol That's what I don't understand around here. So the Jays play like s*** in a GDT but we all have to ignore that they lost and talk all good about them. How can anybody talk anything positive about the BP while they are out s***ing to bed. If we were to say ahh Castro looks awesome tonight meanwhile he's f***ing horrible we would then be blamed for "trolling". I mean come the f*** on. Trolling. We're not in Jr High here people.

A "no venting" rule is BS. I can't pretend that the Jays are 95-win team and be happy about it. And how can anyone be happy or satisfied with the BP?

I think you're using that term way too lightly. 8th inning yes

And how can anyone be happy or satisfied with the BP? Been a Jays fan since Day 1 and always will be. I don't consider myself a knee jerk fan looking for the noose every time we lose, but acceptance of mediocrity in filling obvious major holes and expecting a different overall result, grows so tiresome. Not dissing our young/old arms and we have some good ones, but this bullpen result has been entirely predictable. Gotta blow once in awhile. Gibby sac bunting in the 4th in Fenway makes me irrational! Its early in the season but these games also count in Sept and I see the AL bit stronger overall this year.

Yeah this is the weirdest message board I have ever seen, the same few posters freak out and call everyone trolls as soon as a negative post is made, as if only happy, positive thoughts are allowed even when they team stinks. Don't think many of them even realise they are the ones trolling. Being negative is not a crime, bannable or trolling, unless it is excessive. Attacking others is trolling.
