P2F Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I'm in the minority that thinks the quality sucks on it, unwatchable to me. It's not so much the picture quality because a still frame looks good but motion is not smooth. It's very choppy. I've ordered it and got a refund four years in a row now. Every year I hope they fix it and I'll order it again this season. And I've tried everything, Windows and Android, Chrome and Firefox, laptop and HTPC. It all looks terrible no matter how I watch it. I have an LG Smart TV, and included with it is a MLB.tv app. The TV has TruMotion, and I crank that f***er up to the max and the picture is as smooth as you've ever seen on cable, if not more so. And the image quality is top-notch. It's actually how I watched all of my Jays games last year despite having cable. I got rid of cable a couple of months ago - because I just don't need it - and will be renewing my account with MLB.tv. If you have a Smart TV, you may have a similar option.

I have an LG 50" HD smart tv. How do you "crank up" TruMotion. would you recommend it in place of cable? I live in Toronto.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Ya we had satellite and ditched it in favour of MLB.tv, NHL Gameday and Netflix/Popcorn-Time. Far cheaper and the multi-device functionality is big. Popcorn-Time is pretty sweet. Thanks for that.

If you're just using cable for sports, then absolutely I recommend it. I can't, however, vouch for the Toronto experience, as I live in Calgary. Also, your experience may depend on your ISP. I'm with Shaw, and have the 25 MBPS package, which is not extraordinarily fast or anything and my experience has been great. Settings, Picture, Advanced Control should bring up an option for controlling that, I believe.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Why don't you guys just stream it for free?
43211234 Verified Member Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Like many others, I have been able to use mlb.tv for the past two years without being blacked out. However you should keep in mind that no guarantee that it won't be blocked in canada this season.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I don't know why, but I found this funny. "Ya'll be crazy, anit no HDMI port on this thing, this aint no TV... *looks at computer* HDMI ... well s***". Also with all of this talk about VPNs, I am going to throw my favorite into contention: https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/. So easy to use, doesn't effect my speeds what so ever and you can choose where you want to connect with a click. Not sure why someone whom has netflix may want to want to see UK netflix or anything but the option is there. Recently watched Dallas Buyers Club on Netflix. Had to switch to UK.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Whats the price for premium/basic In 2014 it was $110/$130, although that's American Dollars, costs a bit more Canadian.
