burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Would free up enough cash to sign both Lester and Scherzer Also would be a team with one of the worst outfields in the MLB. All 3 are unproven and haven't shown they can hit MLB pitching.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Dickey doing it all tonight If this Dickey pitched every night we'd be a lot better off.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Pat: he can react and go either way
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Yup... Not a good commitment so far, draft taking over a month..etc Isn't there 4 ppl still needing to sign up?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 So much movement on that last knuckler.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 2 hours for 5 innings.... turtles are walking past this game.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 CF - Gose RF - Pompey LF - Pillar 3B - Lawrie SS - Reyes 2B - ? 1B - EE C - ? DH - ? Lester Scherzer Dickey MB Stroman Sanchez & Norris in Buffalo with the better of the two replacing MB in 2016 If Bautista can yield a good young 2B and C - this is a team loaded with pitching and defense and enough offense

We're not signing Lester or Scherzer.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I want to see the Jays plate a few more so maybe they can start moving some of the call ups out there to see what they can do with some kind of a cushion/less pressure.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Yeah. We're not signing Lester or Scherzer. we're just waiting for Alex Andhisfloppyass to give us the "internal options" speech for next year.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Lester or Scherzer? Hell no! This team can barely sign minor league free agents and fringe players. Melky seemed to only come because he was coming off the suspension and offered a 2-year deal. Most of the guys brought in haven't been near the level those two are. It also doesn't seem to be AA's MO unless they sign elsewhere and AA ships out prospects for their contracts that were more than what AA wanted to sign them for.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 We're going to sign Scherzer and Lester? Just spitballing some options here...... this year's FA crop is pitching heavy.... so strategically that's where you focus improvement Of course AA is too f***ing cheap to bring a FA here..... despairing doesn't work

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Yeah. We're not signing Lester or Scherzer. there's an outside chance they might get shields though...
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 we're just waiting for Alex Andhisfloppyass to give us the "internal options" speech for next year. "Well, if you look at what ______ and ______ did during the minor league season last year, in a handful of ABs in September, I mean they're not a lot of ABs and we don't want to get ahead of ourselves, but if you look at what they've done, and we didn't call them up just to do so, we think they're MLB ready, if you look at that we have some good, home grown young players to supplement our core, and are under contract for 5-6 years and at reasonable numbers since they won't be arbitration eligible for a number of years, and if you look at how they fit the mold and needs and if you compare what they could give us in a full season, even with some bumps along the way, and compared to some of the FAs out there and some of the trades that didn't' line up because they didn't' want what we had and we weren't going to take away from the 25-man roster, you'll see that these internal options are even better than some of the guys we could bring in elsewhere and they're not costing us large sums of money nor prospects plus they're home grown and who doesn't like them?!" Yes, all one huge run on sentence.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Brewers imploding. Wow.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Yes, all one huge run on sentence. we all know it's coming.

You might be able to get a guy like McCarthy but not a top end FA.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Ump just went derp. ball was right down the pipe

Mgmt already shows it will spend through assuming expensive contracts. No the problem is that players are given the choice between playing for a team that has not had success in 20+ years, IN CANADA... vs. an American team with a recent history of winning.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 we all know it's coming. It's only a matter of when he graces us with it. Could it be immediately after the season? Could it be in an interview a couple weeks after? will it be at the winter meetings? Will it be repeatedly in some form or another, rinse and repeat? Probably all of the above.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Free agents don't want to come to Toronto unless they overpay. You might be able to get a guy like McCarthy but not a top end FA. why would anyone come to Toronto while AA is in charge. the guy thinks it's more important to give out ridiculous promises, to fringe players, than it is to win games or make the playoffs.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Thole is trying to get JPA numbers this game!

AA got his icloud hacked and all they got was pictures of naked food.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Can we get George Kottaras to take over the last inning for Dickey? See what he can offer for an inning catching Dickey? Thole is having problems.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Thole really struggling catching.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Naturally with 29 other teams, we're going to sign the 2 best starters on the market. #MakesSense Melky, Bautista, Rasmus, Janssen, Morrow, Happ and a few others frees up $50Million
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 AA got his icloud hacked and all they got was pictures of naked food. lol! Oh god, I just had some horrible mental images.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Brewers imploding. Wow. Cardinals are probably already thinking about another division title.. and possibly another shot at getting the World Series they lost last year to that fluky Red Sox team who got incredibly lucky last year.
