What's the story behind forum bannings?

As a fairly new member one thing I've noticed is constant talk about people being banned and then accusations of people creating multiple accounts or new accounts after being banned. What's the story behind this? Why do people get banned and then what's the point of signing up again multiple times? I'm 34 so I'm basically a dinosaur at this whole inter-ma-net thing so maybe I'm not up what happens on message boards.

It is called internet trolling, and these particular trolls are very bad at it.

 

Why do people troll? Well it's an emotional thing. Some people get a kick out of getting a negative reaction out of people. But this particular troll fails miserably and has been going at it for years. Just move on.

 

And don't worry about innocents getting banned, I'm sure the mods here take note of repeat IP addresses and obvious posting cues.

 

Just as long as you are respectful and don't use wins/losses/era/batting average as the holy grail stat, people here will like you!

My beef is with all the troll usernames and avatars, especially from members who are not really trolls (some are even quality posters)... my eye flags the name as a "troll" before I even read their posts... I have to question these members, why do you go with a seemingly troll alias (and avatars)? You know who you are.

Sometime in the next few years after the inevitable incident the world will learn of the mental sickness of the Dogg. For the past decade he's made hundreds of accounts on this and the official mlb blue jays forum amassing easily 100k+ posts of trolling.

Basically you have to post nudes of your girlfriend/wife/sister by post 500 or you get banned.

I think its 2 or 3 guys, but yeah they probably make 10 accounts a week EACH.

 

The one guy "dogg" pretends to have multiple personalities and talks/argues with himself between his multiple accounts. He probably has some kind of mental problem.

 

Anyways, those trolls literally caused the creation of this website. We all used to post on the official MLB jays forum, but the moderating was non-existant. It got so bad after the Miami trade, that a forum member created this website and we all migrated over to this forum.

 

"Dogg" still posts on both forums, talking to himself for hours every day.

My theory is there are 3 over-the-top trolls/bad posters who have accounted for 99% of the bannings

 

1. Dogg, as mentioned with literally hundreds of accounts and just silliness talking to himself. He's sort of harmless but insanely annoying and clogs up the board with crap. The best thing about him is that he doesn't hide the fact that it's him. His style and names are instantly recognizable. He just seems like an attention seeker.

 

2. Metallijay, who is a beligerent ******* who posts in huge volumes with negative crap and goes to war with certain people repeatedly. He's dumb enough that his horrendous spelling and grammar gets picked up on after he posts a few dozen nasty posts in his first few hours with a new account. He has had at least 5 accounts under which has racked up 100's of posts and several more that were banned on sight before he really got going. We used to let him try again and start over but it's been futile. He's one here and gets banned as soon as we realize it's him.

 

3. I think there MAY be one more person who makes a lot of the silly name "characters" (Wilnercibia, WhinyClowntista, YuDarvish, etc. However, this could also possibly be the Dogg.

 

I also think a few legit posters also have a "troll" account just for when they want to post some crap they wouldn't post under their usual name. This likely results in very few problems because it's so intermittent and brief.

I find this all somewhat fascinating. I already laugh at myself for spending as much time as I do on this site. I can't imagine how I would feel about life if I constantly was kicked off only to try to sign up again multiple times and talk to myself with my various logins. I know a lot of people on here are younger with a lot more time to spare, but still......seems sad

i remember on the old forum, there was some person with an avatar of a green witch that always pissed me off. I left that forum and came here, but it took me a while before I actually posted because I was worried that the same thing would happen again. Mods have been doing a better job here.

I believe you but, the Dogg would probably go as far as using Proxy servers to disguise his real location while using multiple accounts.

He was eventually outed as an alternate account of Lee_Marv1n (by FatcowXLive or GD - who was it?) and outed in real life as a guy named Jarvis by Ju1ced (Admin)
