Legit soccer fans tell me all the time Canada isn't as bad as people think they are. Apparently they have to beat Mexico and USA to get into the mix which is rediculous to me. I just don't understand how we can still be bad at soccer when its the most played sport in Canada. Parents aren't signing kids up to play hockey anymore. Soccer and basketball is much cheaper.

Canada also has one of the highest percentages IN THE WORLD of people playing soccer. Ofcourse, usually at amateur level, but still.

No..its true..I was just joking. But we got hammered in qualifying when it mattered most. We only ever qualified for world cup once and never scored a goal.

USA soccer is rising. The gap between Mexico and USA is very close.

USA is actually ranked 7 spots higher than Mexico but I actually like Mexico's team better. Chicorito and Dos Santos are beasts up front. Still think Vela should have made it though.

Australia participated in the Asian continent to qualify the the world cup, Canada could do the same.

We actually started out the qualifying really well and only needed to tie or beat Honduras to get in the final round but they decimated us. I think we could actually be a fringe team if all our better players didn't go play for their "ancestry squads" (ie. Julian De Guzman and Nederlands)

Its the other De Guzman who plays for the Netherlands.

My hair dresser I was just talking to him hes Italian and he was telling me Canada 8 years ago gave Italy a legit scare and just got by them 2-1. Said all the Italian players were prasing the Canadians and thought they were getting close. I wonder what fell apart since.

We didn't offer enough money to FIFA.

I don't think that should be allowed. I can understand that players want a legit shot to play in the world cup. But its like turning your back on your country. Doesn't Portugal or Spain got a guy that was born in Toronto as well.

Yea Owen Hargreaves who played for Bayern and Man U was Canadian and he played for England in 2006. Also Begovic is a really good Canadian goalkeeper but he chose to play for Bosnia and Herzgovina (who may make some real noise this WC).
