Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 @LottOnBaseball 3m Sergio Santos activated for today’s #BlueJays game. No corresponding move announced yet. Could be Cecil to DL.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Sucks that Cecil most likely heads to the DL. Always nice to have that 2nd LHP in the pen. Glad that Santos is back though.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Nice. Glad to have our best reliever back. lol funny joke.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Nice. Glad to have our best reliever back. Sure the pitcher who can't go more than 10 innings without getting hurt is their best reliever, okay...
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Sure the pitcher who can't go more than 10 innings without getting hurt is their best reliever, okay... He's obviously trying to bait others into an argument. Guy can't throw strikes. Low leverage situations please.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 He's obviously trying to bait others into an argument. Guy can't throw strikes. Low leverage situations please. The way our 8th innings have been he can't hurt having him back.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 The way our 8th innings have been he can't hurt having him back. McGowan has done enough to be the primary 8th inning RHP. Santos shouldn't sniff any high leverage situations until he shows he can f***ing throw strikes consistently. McGowan as a reliever: 13.1IP 1 walk I won't hold my breath with Santos.

McGowan can't pitch everyday though so then your choices are Delabar or Santos. I do doubt Santos is fully healthy though so I expect him to go down again soon.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 So I guess Cecil is gonna go on the DL? We need another lefty, though..

I will take what he has done in his career over a bad 2 week stretch early in the year.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 I will take what he has done in his career over a bad 2 week stretch early in the year. He's thrown 40 innings over the last three years. He's barely a major leaguer at this point.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Nice. Glad to have our worst reliever back.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 He's thrown 40 innings over the last three years. He's barely a major leaguer at this point. Fact is tough when he has been healthy for the jays he has been very effective.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Fact is tough when he has been healthy for the jays he has been very effective. He's provided us .4 WAR since being acquired. He has not been effective, at all.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Author Posted June 14, 2014 SP-RP Stud: 1-Wade Davis 2-Zach Britton 3-Dustin McGowan?
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 So I guess Cecil is gonna go on the DL? We need another lefty, though.. I would have called up Rasmussen before Sergio Can'tThrowStrikes... Maybe Jenkins also goes down in favor of Rasmussen... We'll see.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 SP-RP Stud: 1-Wade Davis 2-Zach Britton 3-Dustin McGowan? McGowan has had a pretty s***** GB% and the K numbers could be better. Somewhat of a recipe for disaster. But he's been throwing strikes consistently though. I'll take it.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 He's provided us .4 WAR since being acquired. He has not been effective, at all. a 1.1 WAR in only 29 games last season is impressive. If he his 100% healthy there is no reason to think he can't do what he did last season.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 If anyone ever gets frustrated with Santos go look at Nestor Molina fangraphs page and you'll feel alot better. Edit: Actually here you go. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa503616&position=P
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Author Posted June 14, 2014 @BlueJays 44s .@BlueJays RHP SERGIO SANTOS has been re-instated from the DL and OF DARIN MASTROIANNI has been optioned to @BuffaloBisons (AAA)
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Santos is our best reliever and should be immediately inserted into the closer role. Case closed.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 so when is Rasmus coming off the dl?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Santos is our best reliever and should be immediately inserted into the closer role. Case closed. Good one. Tell me another!
SAAviour Verified Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Hard to rely on santos, but if he can pitch like that 20 or so inning stretch last year he would be a real nice addition to the pen.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 I would have called up Rasmussen before Sergio Can'tThrowStrikes... Maybe Jenkins also goes down in favor of Rasmussen... We'll see. Reinstatement from the DL and being called up are two very different things.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Reinstatement from the DL and being called up are two very different things. You know what I meant. They didn't have to "reinstate" him yet. Was he throwing strikes again to warrant this "reinstatement"? If you haven't already noticed, we're in a pennant race, and we can't just have a guy come in and walk the ball park in a close game. I hope they use him in low leverage spots, AT LEAST INITIALLY.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Mastroianni sent down. is this serious? if true AA is still a terrible gm and i hope he gets fired ffs
