o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Right arm walkiness and it's contagious as hell, the whole pitching staff has had it for a month. hope Jerry Lewis can raise money for a cure.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 If they're lucky, Happ will have a couple of good starts and hopefully some team will trade for him and his salary. I don't expect much in return, just to clear the roster spot for Stroman in June. That would be by far, the best possible outcome of all this
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 and it's contagious as hell, the whole pitching staff has had it for a month. hope Jerry Lewis can raise money for a cure. There's been a lot less left arm walkiness. Mostly Morrow, Santos and Delabar affected. We'll see if Happ caught it or not.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I said this the other day. I NEVER, EVER root for a Jays player to do poorly. But I want Happ to get rocked by the Phillies so that the FO looks stupid. 7 runs on 5 walks and 2 HR in the first inning using 53 pitches.

Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Morrow to DL? No way! I fully expected him to pitch 200+ innings this year! - Said no one ever... except our moronic GM.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I'll admit to kind of waving that aside somewhat until reading an article on the impact on athletes. Yeah, not good. It is a massive deal. There are like barely any diabetics in baseball... From a quick google search the only active players that I could find are: Sam Fuld Mark Lowe Dustin McGowan Brandon Morrow 2/4 are in our starting rotation. FML (Apparently Jackie Robinson had it too, didn't know that)
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Are we waiting until June to call up Stroman, to avoid super two? Either that or AA is keeping him down in the minors to keeps his stats looking good so he can trade him, and probably more, for another NL pitcher who won't have anywhere near the success he had in the NL and walk to FA or breakdown.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 That would be by far, the best possible outcome of all this I think this plays into their decision. They're hoping Happ can get on a lucky streak and raise his value, which can only go up. We all wish they held true to their ST claims that they'd bring the best team north, but clearly, that has not happened. Let's hope that new arm angle fools hitters for a lucky few starts.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 And they start chanting " USA" stupid Americans.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 So I'm gone all day and come home to news that Happ, and not Stroman, is taking his spot. This team actually operates as though they have no interest in winning. I think in the dumbest possible way AA is trying to do the right thing by not rushing Stroman except we f***ing need him. I say bring up both stroman and Nolin. McGowan to the pen.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Nothing surprising here. Time to move on.
theblujay Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Hopefully we'll move on from him and get some real starters
theblujay Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 This is terrible news. Terrible for Morrow, kind of irrelevant for this mess of a team
theblujay Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 So.. in the not-that-unlikely case that he doesn't contribute much of anything else this season, do we pick up his $10 million option or buy him out for $1 million? Buy out and get a pitcher who contribute.
theblujay Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Morrow is an above average pitcher (IMO). It hurts. Don't pretend it doesn't. This isn't a blow to our chances of contending. We never had a chance.
theblujay Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 If anything it gives us a chance to see the young pitchers in the majors
theblujay Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 We did have a chance though. Looks more grim now, especially with these roster decisions. You know we really didn't
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 It depends on a whole lot of factors obviously, but given the current pitching market I think you kind of have to unless you're completely tearing it down and slashing payroll. I think even if you're tearing it down, you pick it, hope he bounces back and trade him for something. I think even in a teardown, they should be able to risk $10M. On the other hand, if they're trying to retool, maybe they make a run at one of the elite FA SP and that $9M would come in handy. Anyway...
theblujay Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 20% chance to make playoffs only yesterday by ZiPS. I would give us a 20% chance of not coming in 5th
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Spanky what's going on in the 'Shwa tonight?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I don't disagree. There are so many variables. If they buy him out and then sign a Masterson/Shields/Lester I won't complain. If they buy him out, don't rebuild, and don't replace him I'll probably be very angry. Yeah, I read you. This freaking guy is just snake-bitten.
