How about a player-coach? I saw Bautista giving instructions to Diaz with Seitzer next to him. Maybe he told him to fake bunting and not swing even if the pitches were right down the middle.

Has there been an upadate on Lind recently? Also, I'm really glad I missed this game. Unfortunately, I'm going tomorrow, lol

It has to be somebody's job to correct players mistakes, or else you're just running a less effective ball club.

I'm with you. I think of a manager as head coach, motivator, educator. Setting a lineup and bullpen management should be like 5% of what he brings.

Leave that "intangiblezzz" s*** to the coaches. The coaches are also the educators. The manager should know everything in the book about splits, leverage index, win probability, etc.

Just because you can't measure the intangible doesn't mean it doesn't have value. I remember Sparky Anderson getting into Luis Leal's head and single handedly ruining his concentration. All because he found his weakness and exploited it with a six foot submarine sandwich. The batting order and the bullpen didn't mean a thing.

According to Zaun players have the green light in the org...how much is true, Idk.

Bautista has green light, not everyone.

lol.......it's not Pee-Wee ball.

Just because they spent some games against poor competition in the minors doesn't mean they know how to play against more advanced players.

Even major leaguers needed to be educated. You realize it's a constant learning and evolving game right? Adapt or die!

Have to disagree with you on this, Spanky. The way players behave is a result of off the field actions. What I honestly see is that players don't have faith in the coaching/management. Bautistas actions are a reflection of that. You posted a while ago that the team sucks against pitchers they don't know or something like that. Why would that be? Either nobody preps them or they don't believe what they are told.

That or Bautista thinks he is above the law!

WAT???

cf

Hitting against a bunch of retreads in the minors does not mean you're ready to take on the all stars.

They must sell the game plan to have the players believe and buy into it !

I coached football and I remember being a young coach and the " Don" telling us this and always remember it !

I have coached great players as a team that should've won it all! I also have coached crappy players that had no business winning it all, but they did! The difference was and I believe if the team doesn't buy into the program or the plan or schemes as a whole! You will not win s***! Case closed this is a team sport for a reason!

This is all fallacy.

Not saying he is but, how is this any different then when Lawrie did it to him last year! I believe most said Lawrie was stupid and selfish to have taken the bat out of his hands... So ?

Anyone else really want to see them just call it a failure and call up Nolin, Stroman, Drabek, Pillar, Jimenez, Sanchez, Kawasaki and trade our guys with any value for prospects. I'd rather watch them lose while seeing if any can stick instead of watching this 18-wheeler fall off the cliff in slo motion for the next two years

Couldn't agree more the current jays team is beyond repairable in so many areas from management, cheap ownership rogers, bad manager, pitching And hitting coach, horrible old starters, just an overall culture of making excuses for losing games and always next time he will be better, give them time etc. Who makes excuses lke that all the time in pro sports?! Blow the whole thing up while they stillcan get some return on investment....
