Yeah, there are two big drops. Missing out on McEichel sucks, but at least Marner and Strome are 1st overall picks in most years.

FWIW, I'm not saying that you made a bad deal. I just think the Gibson + 6th OV + Draisaitl for a 27-year old 35-goal guy is fair. The deal looks much, much better than it could have with more lottery luck.

It also depend on who I pick. If who I pick turns out to be the next Zach Hamill, then it looks bad. If I luck out with someone like, say, Dave Pastrnak, it looks fine or better.

Sure the trade looks like like Spittin got the better end now but in the same position as Frag I would pull the trigger 9/10 times. If that pick was top 4 it tilts a ton in his favour.

Yeah, you need to judge trades in context. By the same token, it's not fair for Frag to say "if I pick a Pastrnak" then it will be worth it.

 

It was a pretty good haul in context. Draisaitl and Gibson are both, like, top 15 prospects. The chance at a very high pick made it just fine for an elite player.

Yeah exactly. Now if a player breaks out after you trade for them the owner deserves credit especially if they were forecasting that.

Palat out for 2 to 3 weeks with an injury, Andersen/Hutchison/Hiller are all having jobs being partially taken over by other goalies (Gibson, Pavelec and Ramo). Not looking like this will be my playoff run.
