burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 With Crosbys history of injuries - I wouldn't take him at 8. Just saying that so you can take him haha.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Anyone else doing this with no list, or do I just have bigger balls than all of you?
Frag Verified Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Anyone else doing this with no list, or do I just have bigger balls than all of you? You have big chicken balls (I hope that's not going to be the official name of our division)

BTS Community Moderator Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I ave a list, but am torn at #1 pick still. Crosby/Stamkos?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 George Parros or Brian McGrattan. Hal Gill
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I'm using NHL 15 rankings as my list!
Frag Verified Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Division 4 represent. Change your name to District 9 or 13
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Whoever selects them before the 20th pick is dumn... My sniffer detects a slight bias! It WOULD be interesting to see where they'd go if this wasn't a keeper league though.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I have to get my ass in gear and get a list going. I'm not even sure yet whether to go for it this year, or go for youth.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I have to get my ass in gear and get a list going. I'm not even sure yet whether to go for it this year, or go for youth. Man up and build a team that can win perpetually.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 How come we have blocks as a scoring category? Seems like pure luck even compared to stats like +/- and hits.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 How come we have blocks as a scoring category? Seems like pure luck even compared to stats like +/- and hits. It seems fairly predictable. I personally like it. It adds more depth to the strategy, and tends to add a little more value in general to defensemen.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 +/- is awful. Everyone just ignores it and crosses their fingers every week.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I assumed hits was a category, it's not? Hits > blocked shots Blocked shots > +/- Goals (G), Assists (A), Plus/Minus (+/-), Powerplay Points (PPP), Shots on Goal (SOG), Shooting Percentage (SH%), Hits (HIT), Blocks (BLK)
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Faceoff wins is a personal favourite.

Plus the tracking of blocked shits is such a grey area.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 +/- is awful. Everyone just ignores it and crosses their fingers every week. +/- is difficult to predict year to year. I can say though that I certainly didn't ignore it last year.

Frag Verified Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 +/- is projectable. It's pretty much guys on a good team = good +/-. Blocked shots is also a skill and is projectable. Especially a good team with good goaltending (ie. Bruins and Rangers).
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 +/- is projectable. It's pretty much guys on a good team = good +/-. Blocked shots is also a skill and is projectable. Problem is with hockey nobody knows what teams are going to be good. The entire season is basically a crapshoot.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 That's in, isn't it? Nope. I am disappoint.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Problem is with hockey nobody knows what teams are going to be good. The entire season is basically a crapshoot. Exactly. The Middle tier of teams has so many in in and anything can happen. Theres only a few elite teams and a couple that are awful.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 +/- is projectable. It's pretty much guys on a good team = good +/-. Blocked shots is also a skill and is projectable. Blocked shots are definitely projectable. +/- on good teams is fairly easy, but beyond that it can be rough. All it takes is a coach on a below average team juggling a line and you can go from great to average. In a dynasty setting, it's hard to predict especially beyond the one year. I kind of like that extra dimension though, at least in a limited amount.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 The West is stacked, than there's a couple from the East, and the rest is crap. Id break it down as: Tier 1 LA, Chi, SJ, Bos Tier 2: NYR, STL, Dal Tier 3: ANA, Pit
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Canucks are going to win it all **shakes fist at the non-believers**
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I think ANA is in the top tier with LA, SJ, and CHI. I think you could make say Tier 2 but I would take STL or Dallas over them.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I'm still looking to turn 38 or 43 into two/three lesser picks.
