I'd be very cautious with linking Hockey's Future. Also, that list doesn't include those who will be drafted this year.

Though, hockey prospects tend to reach the majors much faster than baseball prospects, so that could be an interesting dynamic to it. Maybe 8 instead of 10.

 

Maybe have a Farm Roster limit of 10. But only give 8 picks to each team this Summer for the prospect draft. And then 5 each every year after.

I'm thinking before, it'll give us something to do over the summer, after the NHL Entry draft. Prospects can be chosen as long as they have yet to play a game in the NHL. Roster players will be drafted sometime when Yahoo opens up the new season.

Correct. Makes it clear-cut and easy to see if someone is good to be drafted. And they'll have to have their rights owned by an NHL team, so no Connor McDavid this year.

That would be every player gets randomized, and from that order you have a draft to select where you want to draft in the Prospects/NHL Draft

 

So the person #1 in the randomizer could choose #1NHL/#20Prospects, or #2NHL/#19Prospects and so forth

Ya, I was thinking a draft lottery involving maybe the bottom 5/6 teams. Of course the lower the team finishes the better odds they'll have. Also, this year both drafts willing be snaking, future drafts will not be.

Why not an equal lottery involving all teams that don't make the playoffs, then reverse order for the rest? It would ensure that no one has reason to tank, and no one gets a late season matchup with someone trying to make the bottom 5 or 6.

There will be no obvious tanking allowed. I don't think the #9 team should have the same chance as the #20 at getting the #1 pick.

You'll never get better if you don't try. + A dynasty hockey league is something different, I don't think anyone in the league has been in a DYNASTY Hockey league before so you aren't worse than the rest of us.

 

It takes place in the baseball off-season as well.

I'm worse than all of you and hockey is only my third favorite sport and you saw how little time I could commit to hockey this year, and that's a redraft league. I wouldn't want to waste a spot that a good committed owner could take up. Again, I'd co-manage, I'd actually really love to do that, but I don't want to take up a spot.
