jayswin11 Verified Member Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 pitchers are dropping like flies, this may be one time the Jays patience in holding onto pitchers may help. If Rogers/Happ can pitch half decent, someone may be willing to take them and their contracts even if the Jays don't get much else in return.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 You can rehab for 30 days. Surprised they didn't do that. Makes absolutely no sense NOT to do that . He should have made at least 4 or 5 starts in the minors unless they are going to try and slip Rogers thru Waivers

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 And the first line tells you all you need to know! - After a second consecutive solid outing in his minor-league rehab, J.A. Happ declared himself ready to return to the Blue Jays. And then: This year, Happ has stated his desire to be part of the rotation, and he expressed that sentiment again. "I haven't prepared to be in the bullpen. I've prepared to be a starter all off-season," Happ said. "The plan was to get right and get healthy. Hopefully things take care of themselves."
kgm1 Verified Member Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I'd release Happ before I even thought about trading Redmond. There was no need to bring him up . We had a 30 day rehab window . I just don't get it unless they have something else in the wind . Right now I see trying to slip Rogers thru waivers and if it doesn't work OH well !

The last sentence hints to me that basically he is hoping someone gets hurt or struggles. Doesn't sound like a team guy. Think he needs to get traded at the first opportunity.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I don't see any starter in our rotation that deserves to have his spot handed over to JA Happ. I'll be mega pissed if they do it to McGowan. Dickey's been our worst starter so far, but obviously it won't be him.

I,m disliking this guy more and more . Wonder if McGowan didn't rebound good after his start ???
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Can we put Happ on waivers just to see if someone will nab him and take his entire salary.
Brenner Verified Member Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Redmond has gone to the pen, kept his mouth shut, and pitched well. He deserves to be first in line if a starter goes down. If Happ goes to the pen and earns his way back in the rotation then great, until then shut up and if you suck in the pen don't dare say it was because you prepared to be a starter. He should be happy to be in the majors based on his performance so far.
Brenner Verified Member Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 does anyone know what channel sunday night baseball is on? espn
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 There has to be some decent 1.5 WAR middle infielder toiling away in the minors somewhere. It'd be nice if AA could identify that player and then make a deal for him. Happ and izturis for Marco Scotaro would be better! If San Fran would bite!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Does anyone know what channel Sunday night baseball is on? I don't see it listed anywhere. No one in Canada seems to be carrying it.
Brenner Verified Member Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Which Canadian channel? Lol What's a channel? I don't have cable, pure interweb. MLB tv for the win.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Lott: General manager Alex Anthopoulos has said he expects Happ, a starter last season, to rejoin the rotation at some point but that room is full at the moment. Happ has made it clear he does not want to pitch in relief. Because of his major-league service time, he could also refuse a minor-league assignment if the Jays pushed in that direction. http://sports.nationalpost.com/2014/04/13/toronto-blue-jays-add-munenori-kawasaki-and-j-a-happ-place-maicer-izturis-on-dl-and-demote-erik-kratz/
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 So, yeah. Waiting for someone to get hurt. LOL
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 This country f***en sucks sometimes. I. So sick of hockey taking up airwaves. Yep FWIW I remember Sportsnet 590 saying they were going to braid cast the game on the radio.
Brenner Verified Member Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I am too cheap to pay 129 for MLB TV lol. But this is really forcing my hand right now. Its cheaper then the cheapest cable package and its not full of 90% junk, only exactly what you want, baseball.

Teach the arrogant bastard some humility. I just tell the guy ."" you said you don't want to be in the BP so we will let you start at AAA .

STFU you haven't proved anything.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Can we just find some poor soul on the darknet to give 50k to in order to ensure Happ's mysterious disappearance?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Not even on TSN2? I'm watching on RDS here in the MTL, but it's certainly not on either TSN or TSN2. I think TSN2 has Monday Night Baseball tomorrow (obviously).

Happ should certainly not be given a rotation spot unless McGowan struggles for a few starts or in case of injury. I have to say though, given the uncertainty in the SR with Morrow and Hutchison coming back from injury, I can sort of understand trying to hold on to the depth, but it's overdue to move on and address the bench.

For sure we need the depth I just wish Happ was being paid like depth, and that he understood that he IS depth
