He's not even doing badly. 3.64 K/BB. He's just getting horrible ERA luck. 47% LOB%, .414 BABIP, 20.0 HR/FB%. 3.74 SIERA, he's been fine.

They're "entitled" to do whatever they want, as it's their organization. And it doesn't even matter how much they have invested in him. But being "entitled" to do something doesn't mean you have to be a dumb s*** and do it. This is a horribly, horribly mismanaged organization.

They're going to end up with some youngsters who don't want to be there, and will bitch and moan until they get out of the organization, premier youngsters not wanting to sign with them out of the draft, and no veteran FAs wanting to join the org as well.

And then, when they can't field a team, they can stand there and say "BUT WE'RE ENTITLED!!!" all they want. Followed by "WHY WON'T ANYONE PLAY WITH US?!?!"

WAY TOO DRAMATIC, money talks

Posted
It's not dramatic ... it's how it's unfolding. And they have no money, and are pissing everyone off by handing out very little of what very little they do have.

So? Remember when folks were in an uproar over the Phillies basically reporting their draft pick to the NCAA last year? It blows over. I agree with you that when push comes to shove the Astros will regret these series of strange moves.

With Reimold, Gose, Kawasaki, Thole and whoever else you want to put on the bench or carry an extra reliever.

Thats an AL East winning trade. Dat lineup dude are you kidding me. Colby hitting 9th?

Also cripples the franchise completely in like 2-3 years. If the Phillies add like 30 million and take on Romero as well it still isnt that great a trade for the Blue Jays.

I remember that. We never heard the full story, and there wasn't a track record of nonsense there. It was an isolated incident.

But the entirety of the Astros org appears to be a bunch of dumb effers, handling things as poorly as possible. They're totally screwed on their TV deal, and can't/haven't done s*** to rectify the situation. They were accused of holding players back from promotions until they coerced them into below "market" long-term deals. And they denied it. And then a week or so later signed Singleton to a deal everyone criticized, and immediately promoted him. Players inside and outside the organization have been critical of them just for that series of incidents. And then the Aiken nonsense, which resulted in screwing over at least 2 players and having the MLBPA file a grievance against them. And now more internal rumblings over undeserved promotions (to a higher minor league level) and promotions (of Appel, through a bullpen showcase to execs).

They're consistently screwing the pooch. They have just about everyone pissed off at them for a number of things. Basic, integral things to the way you run your organization. Not the correct way to manage things when your goal is to cheap out and get "max value" out of your "commodities" (i.e. players).

Who cares....they care about advanced stats!!!

At the rate the M's are sliding, it's going to be a battle between us and the Yankees for that 2nd wild card. Still, the division is in sight, as we're only 3 back, with a ridiculously easy schedule against a sliding Red Sox team and the MLB-worst run organization, the Houston Astros.

LOL Uggla... and some people wanted us to sign Uggla. That was just ugly..

BTW, did you see all that stuff in AT&T Park there with the restaurant behind the scoreboard and the bowling alley? No wonder AT&T Park ranks as one of the best in the game..

Probables vs. the Red Sox:

Buchholz (4.29 SIERA) vs. Dickey (4.12 SIERA)

De La Rosa (3.91 SIERA) vs. Stroman (3.30 SIERA)

TBA vs. Buehrle (depending if Lester is still with the Red Sox by Wednesday)

This is a very winnable series.. and the third game is uncertain due to Lester's questionable status due to the possibility of him being traded. After this, the (AAA)stros are on the docket..

Mark Appel's promotion makes zero sense. The only thing I think is they want to give him a clean slate in terms of his stat line. But perhaps they should of sent him the either way to get his confidence back. That AA jump is huge. Biggest in the minor league level.

Lancaster and the Cal League is one of the friendliest hitting environments in the entire minor leagues. Makes sense to me that they want to get him out of there.

Yeah. I know Keith Law has been tweeting about getting him out of there for weeks.

Rumours involve a trade that would have Lester to Dodgers and Matt Kemp + to Sox

omg please

prospect won't be Pederson cause the Dodgers don't want to deal him but like if it's anyone besides Pederson/Urias/Seager along with Kemp for Lester that is amazing for us as it hampers the Sox's ability to add FAs with his massive ass contract and he'll be a DH within a few years

That would be interesting. Matt Kemp in Fenway would be otherworldly.

AL MVP? Hm.

Posted

Matt Kemp has been mediocre, the only thing he has for him is his name. You can't think of him like Matt Kemp of the old.

I certainly think he can rebound, but no where near his MVP seasons and no where near worth even half his contract.

From the organization with the most rampant JDA offenders, and a rapist in their midst, comes outrage at bat flipping, after getting housed by Ortiz, yet again. Dude is so in their heads.

Maybe Ortiz should do the bow and arrow thing next time. Remind the Rays that they used to employ the guy with the most obnoxious celebration in the game.

Pretty legit brawl especially for baseball, lots of punching, guys genuinely trying to hurt each other.

Comments on Stroman

Very interesting comments on Aiken, I didn't know he did CrossFit.

If you don't know anything about weightlifting, crossfit is basically something you do not want to do and it's just a fad. It increases your injury risk considerably with no benefit.
