jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 lol what a goon Machado is. Donaldson's reaction was pretty good, he had no idea what was going on
Jonzo Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Ken Roesenthal looks like a douche with that bow tie on, tigers game..
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Looks like all of AL East is losing, except Orioles who are tied.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Anyone watching the Red Sox/Tigers game? They were talking to AJ Pierzynski.. and for some reason I feel he doesn't know anything about the issues with the Red Sox. If they're a hard-working team.. why are they 27-33? And for some reason the Fox baseball broadcaster are SO biased... they were talking about Brian McCann in the broadcast.. thinking he'll bounce back during the summer. I don't believe that.. he's hitting .231 and his OBP is under .300... and is looking like a major bust for the Yankees.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Can someone explain to me why the f*** the Twins would sign Kendrys Morals to a one year deal?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Trade deadline trade chip or a genuine effort not to tank and to build a useful core.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Can someone explain to me why the f*** the Twins would sign Kendrys Morals to a one year deal? Maybe they plan to flip him at the deadline.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Maybe they plan to flip him at the deadline. Okay, but it would be a pretty dumb for a GM not to just sign him from the start rather then wait a month, pay pretty much the whole contract and give up assets.
Cooler Heads Prevail Verified Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Can someone explain to me why the f*** the Twins would sign Kendrys Morals to a one year deal? They're maybe 3 games out of a wildcard. Some of their deep system is arriving, plus they signed free agent pitchers already. Why would they just give up on the season ? Fans have waited long enough throw them a bone even if ultimately they aren't quite there yet as a team.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Okay, but it would be a pretty dumb for a GM not to just sign him from the start rather then wait a month, pay pretty much the whole contract and give up assets. Twins could eat some of the salary to accommodate a partner that couldn't afford him otherwise. They could also maybe package him with someone else they want to dump (pelfrey, willingham, maybe even nolasco).
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 The Twins are in the WC picture... why not have some fun and go for it. They had a bunch of money lying around and are putting it to good use. Good for them. Yeah, but EVERYONE outside of the Astros and Rays are in the WC picture. Morals doesn't make the Twins a wildcard team.

They had a bunch of money lying around and are putting it to good use. Good for them. Agreed. The 2nd WC does allow for more teams to be in the mix. Even the Rays with all their struggles came into today 8 games out of a WC spot. In the NL, the D-Backs were 7 out going into today. This is why I doubt a guy like Shields will be traded by the Royals unless it's a great package.

I'm not saying 'give up' ...just maybe save that 10 million for the off season and stand pat.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Currently taking 100$ bets at 5:1 odds that the Twins don't make the playoffs? Any takers? lol....not a chance, right?
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Yankees tie it up; Orioles 4 - 1 against Sonny Gray (crazy).
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Yeah, but EVERYONE outside of the Astros and Rays are in the WC picture. Morals doesn't make the Twins a wildcard team. I don't really understand this philosophy.. some guys think if a team isn't going to make the playoff they should just do anything they can to tank for better draft slot?.. how dumb is that. What about believing in putting a quality product on the field to not alienate the fan base any further.. I'm sure the $7 isn't going to hurt their bottom line or they wouldn't have done it.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Stupid ass Orioles beating up on Sonny Gray. FU Orioles. FU.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 The Royals hit a homerun; impossible to lose after such a feat (Royals 6-3 Yanks(
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Royals take over 6 - 3. Orioles are just going crazy.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Most of our rivals have bad pitching matchups tomorrow We have Hutch vs J Garcia. Like.

The problem isn't them going out and getting a player, it's getting a player that doesn't address their needs (unless they plan to bench Mauer or play Morales in the outfield). They've had good production from the DH position this year (better than they'd likely expect from Morales). Their center fielders and right fielders are in danger of discovering the Mendoza line.

I never said anything about tanking. I said don't put 10 million dollars into a DH rental player when you have a meh team.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I wouldn't be so sure. Jaime Garcia has a 13.4 SwStr% and 39.7 O-Swing%. He's one of those good-or-injured guys. He's good at the moment. He's only pitched 24 innings so far this year, so who knows yet really... 5 home runs 0 walks Completely discordant stats
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Stupid ass Orioles beating up on Sonny Gray. FU Orioles. FU. Must be because Gray is short.

Well I'll guess we'll have to see what their plan is. Regardless, it's good PR and shows their fans commitment while not doing anything to effect their short term or long term budget

Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Peripherals have been as good in the past though! ZiPS projects 3.48 FIP. Don't be surprised if it's another pitchers duel. Blegh. I am pretty sure the stadium is packed tomorrow to see some fireworks and rockets... inb4 more boos.
