Omg..... I think that is possibly the saddest thing I've ever seen on a baseball field. Next to Johnson killing that bird.

Johnson's reaction when that happened was priceless. I still can't believe the animal rights people were trying to paint him as some kind of evil person, like he possibly could have seen it approaching and aimed for it.

Getting old SUCKS. Poor guy. I feel awful for him.

I love the replay thing... I can't stand this walking out to argue with the umpire, all the while looking back at the dugout.

This is going to be a pain in the ass if they go out just to buy time every time there is a close play. Something they are going to need to revise a bit because I hate loosing the flow of the game that way.

Yep, and they're all doing it.

Manager goes out to start talking. He wastes some time while some guys in clubhouse watch the replays on the TV broadcast. They call a guy in the dugout to say whether it looks like a challenge is worthwhile or not. Guy in dugout then relays the feeling of the video guys to the manager by gestures. Manager walks back to dugout.

Did MLB see THIS coming or not?

They may now have to cap the number of times a manager can leave the dugout!

Can't blame the managers either. They are going to do everything in there power to slow things down. Something is going to have to be done because even though it only happened 3 times in the Jays game it still was irritating.

I have to say I agree with Butera that these little conferences probably waste a lot less time than full blown arguments would plus as an added bonus, the civility it brings to the game probably really annoys the neanderthal set.

Bobby Parnell partially tears MCL:

‏@Mets

After an MRI & clinical evaluation, he was diagnosed with an incomplete tear of the Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) in his right elbow (2)

They should shave a stipulation that if managers approach an umpire about a call against their team, they have to challenge if it is challengeable.

I agree. This took how many years to be put in place, how did not one person think of the amount of time wasted from the pointless slow walks out onto the field thats going to happen because of this

None here. The guy is on a constant vacay. Awful prez is awful.

Is was thinking more along the lines of Red Sox, WS, president, NASA, Ortiz mashing at age 39, stuff like that. :)

Lol

OK, I'll say it. David Ortiz is an alien being harboured by the highest levels of the US Government. The Red Sox won the WS illegally! Farrell knew all along!

It takes a lot less time than the manager throwing a big tantrum over the call, although perhaps less entertaining. Hopefully this is the first step towards the larger goal of MLB reviewing all close plays within like 15 to 20 seconds and talking to the ump directly through an earpiece or something to completely eliminate the need for challenges and always get these calls right.

Need an infielder in Toronto? Yankees just DFAd Eduardo Nunez. Expect someone, possibly even the Jays, to claim him within the next few days.

Nunez has really fallen off the radar.. but he doesn't deserve this. All just so a career minor-league SS in Yangervis Solarte can get on the team.

Nunez will likely attract interest from us, Houston, Minnesota, Chicago and Philly.

It's funny that Nunez once was to be the heir to Derek Jeter.. what happened? BTW, his 2013 numbers were decent offensively, but his defense was awful, especially considering how the Yanks whipsawed him around the diamond.

EWwwwwww. Rather have Boni. I kinda wish we had Boni now.

Boni was/is terrible. His defense was cringe worthy.
