Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 BlueJays announce the annual Winter Tour with stops in Oshawa, Kingston, Peterborough, St. Catharines, London and Mississauga. A. Lind, S. Delabar, J. Thole, C. Rasmus, B. Morrow, D. McGowan, E. Rogers, T. Redmond, A. Gose, John Gibbons to take part. #BlueJays
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 No stops outside of Ontario? Weird and disappointing... if you're not actually touring the country then replace it with a 'JaysFest' event at the RC, which is what other teams do. People living in these cities don't have much trouble getting to the occasional game.

Too bad they don't go country wide.. probably have a tough time getting players on board to travel great periods of time during the offseason

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 That's lame as s***. They got huge crowds all over the country last year.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 BIlly Butler should buy a coat, He'll replace Lind in the Tour.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Agreed. I know people who travelled 5 hours to go to Saskatoon or Winnipeg last year just for this.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 If you don't want to do a proper tour then don't do a tour. Don't piss on the fans and tell them it's raining.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 This may give credence to the belief that new management has tightened the purses. We've always assumed that AA had roughly 15 million to play with but maybe he's had the rug pulled out from under him. His inactivity may be linked to only being able to do NBA style trades. No free agent signings, no taking on payroll in trades. Why would you do such a half-ass tour unless you're being cheap? This is suspicous.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Thames was full of steroids and didn't hit. http://blogimages.thescore.com/mlb/files/2012/01/large1.jpg Casualidad!!. The 3 dresses in blue are out.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Buddy of mine was in The peg last year when they were there and it was a HUGE turn out. Maybe they did not want to do the cross Canada thing again which I think is a huge mistake.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Yup, very odd that they don't have any locations outside of Ontario. Was it the issue of getting players to come on board all across? If I recall last year they had at least 3 players at each stop, with different ones at each location. Maybe this one they'll have all those players in each location. Nice to see Rasmus and Gose be there again.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I was there, it was great time. Me and my dad waited in line for 5 hours...then when we got to the front of the line they told us "No more people after (the people in front of us)" I was mad Ya kind of glad I did not make the 2 hour trip east. It would have been all for not I heard the lineup was just stupid lol.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 What were the tv ratings like outside of ontario last year. The Jays like shooting themselves in the foot. Sloppy mangement
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 i live in mississauga weeeeee how are these events anyway? do you actually get to talk with the players for more than a minute or is it like waiting in line at the DMV?

I don't think having a convo with any of these guys would be overly stimulating. What am I going to talk to Colby Rasmus about? Likely either his hair or his tractors.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Reading between the lines here, I'd say it means that Rogers is happy with the tv numbers and worried about physical butts in the seats next year.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Oshawa, Peterborough and Mississauga are all easy transit to the games. Stupid!
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 They're coming to Kingston too. Should've stopped in Belleville too.. there's a bus company there in Kingston (with offices in Belleville) that frequently offers bus trips to Blue Jays games. Also consider that these players are likely busy training during the offseason and are too busy to do winter tours like this. After that bad year last season, they're more likely preparing for 2014.
