TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Is Ramos available? I'm pretty sure they were talking extension with him at the end of the season. I don't see anyone else in the org either.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I don't that's nearly enough for Kendrick unless the + is Sanchez or Stroman. Kendrick is a very good asset. Id move Rogers, Nolin and Norris for Kendrick and Conger. I doubt LAA would take that though.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2013 Author Posted October 21, 2013 Id move Rogers, Nolin and Norris for Kendrick and Conger. I doubt LAA would take that though. The Angels don't want pitching prospects......Jays and Angels "Win now mode"
JugglingPitches Verified Member Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 If we trade away the assets everyone is talking about in this thread for Conger/Iannetta and Kendrick, we'll have no chips left to move for our biggest problem -- starting pitching. In reality, JPA needs to be included in any package, and if AA can sell the perception that he has any sort of potential and add Nolin and/or Stroman to the mix, Wilson Ramos should be attainable. 2B, if we can't get a guy like Kendrick, I'm fine with Goins. Can't hit that well but 2B isn't traditionally a heavy hitting position, defence is more important and we have enough offence to go around. We still need 2-3 starting pitchers and that is going to be AA's toughest challenge. Any update on Hutch? He'd be a good first call-up when there's an injury.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 The Angels don't want pitching prospects......Jays and Angels "Win now mode" Nolin and Rogers would be the win now pitching pieces.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I'd be surprised if Nolin and Rogers get you Iannetta, let alone Kendrick. Probably true but I see them both as legit back end guys.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2013 Author Posted October 21, 2013 Nolin and Rogers would be the win now pitching pieces. What? Rogers swingman-s*** and Nolin hasn't MLB experience.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I'd be surprised if Nolin and Rogers get you Iannetta, let alone Kendrick. I wonder what both Santos and Janssen would net? Trading one of the closers seems obvious but if it gets you a better return, I can't see why you wouldn't trade both. I'd rather have a good team with a bad bullpen (i.e. Detroit) then a bad team with a great bullpen. I'd rather take my chances promoting guys to the bullpen then having scrubs in the starting lineup.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2013 Author Posted October 21, 2013 Yup. I'd blow it completely up: Delabar, Cecil, Janssen and Santos gone if it netted us useful talent in other positions. You can always sign more scrubs and convert more starters to fill the pen. The bullpen pieces are easy to replace (Juan Perez, Wagner, Loup, ........are a living example) Santos, Rogers, Happ, Pillar, Goins for Conger and Kendrick
JugglingPitches Verified Member Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Why? Because he's talked his way out of town.
JugglingPitches Verified Member Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 So non-tender him. The team has zero obligation to JPA next year. I know, but if some other team sees any value in him, I'd rather trade him than another asset that could be dealt for pitching or 2B.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Even if Delabar, Janssen, Santos, and Cecil were traded and Happ is in the rotation: sign Joe Smith and Jesse Crain or similar arms RH - Wagner RH - McGowan LH - Loup LH - Perez (either of them) RH - Rogers Boom. A bullpen. Every casual fan and our casual front office just had a heart attack

A bullpen. Stilson is almost ready, Jeffresss is a damn good arm and crappy Lincoln is in da house.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2013 Author Posted October 21, 2013 Every casual fan and our casual front office just had a heart attack Jays front office: !Are you crazy?!.............We can't trade our 2 ACE-Relievers for an ungrade C and/or 2B......Goins is here and JPA have 20 dingers in his bat!!!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 We're keeping at least one of Delabar, Santos and Janssen, no matter how trade-crazy he goes
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 We're keeping at least one of Delabar, Santos and Janssen, no matter how trade-crazy he goes We're probably keeping all three. There's a big difference between what the team should consider and what it will consider.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I think we're probably keeping 3-4 of them. They are cloning one?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Serious question cause I've been lost a bit on baseball outside of the playoffs...why is Santos the number one search on fangraphs right now? Did I miss a rumour or something about him?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2013 Author Posted October 21, 2013 We're keeping at least one of Delabar, Santos and Janssen, no matter how trade-crazy he goes Delabar, Santos and Janssen = 150 innings. Trade those 3 ACE-RP.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Nothing Maybe Angels staff evaluating an Anthopoulos trade proposal I didn't say he was the top search on Fox Sports page.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I didn't say he was the top search on Fox Sports page. LOL They have a front office who aren't in to advanced stats either, eh?
ace3113 Verified Member Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Klaw chat stuff: kevin (philadelphia) can you please help me put jp arencibia's awful excuse-making to bed? I've heard this guy say multiple times that his historically awful season isn't really so bad and that we, as fans, need to "ask people in baseball" as we've never played the game. You speak with "people in baseball." do any of them honestly think that after 3 years jp is honestly as bad as he seems? klaw (1:27 pm) he's a backup, playing too much because that's what they have. dan (berea) do you think yan gomes can produce enough at the plate to play behind it everyday in 2014? klaw (1:33 pm) given the state of catching right now, yes. Do i think he'll repeat his rate stats from 2013? No. josh (ny) i know comps are stupid, but should mets fans be happy if d'arnaud has a similar career to jonathan lucroy? klaw (1:41 pm) shouldn't any team be happy if its catching prospect has a career like jonathan lucroy? He's pretty good. And a guy i never said enough about while he was a prospect, too. joe (toronto) do you think that the jays need to get a new catcher? klaw (2:01 pm) clearly.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Klaw chat stuff: Nice job breaking the chat up into the relevant threads btw.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 O look we're gonna give up more prospects for average major league players when we can just sign one on the open market..beyond retarded

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I'd prefer Conger to be honest since he's younger and cheaper. I can see AA trading for one of those guys instead of attempting to sign a Ruiz or Salty. He hates free agency lol.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I don't that's nearly enough for Kendrick unless the + is Sanchez or Stroman. Kendrick is a very good asset. Kendrick likely would cost the Jays Stroman or Sanchez, agreed.
