ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 They're calling Dombrowski the Trade Master here Well, he should've traded for Cecil
Convo Verified Member Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Hunter should have had that he over ran it That's what I was thinking... he made it look way harder than it had to be, granted it would of been a tough play anyway.

Convo Verified Member Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 All Benoit had to do was NOT give up a f***ing grand slam... what does he do? Serve up a juicy meatball over the heart of the plate on the first pitch to David f***ing Ortiz.

The thing is, if you bring in your closer in that situation, you bring him in to pitch to Ortiz, at least that's how I view it.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Is it just me or did Leyland screw up?
admin Site Manager Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Hunter should have had that he over ran it Yep. Could have had it. Imagine that catch if he would have changed his angle slightly, and caught the ball and went over the wall like that. Probably one of the best catches in playoffs ever.

Caper Verified Member Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 f*** I hate the Red Sox... and those dirty ducking hipster beards.
EdelweissBouquet Verified Member Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Seems like leyland wanted everyone in BP to be part of the game. The way scherzer was pitching he should of let him pitch in the 8th, F the pitch count.

You never know what pitcher is going to be on or not any given day, so if you have one who is I think it's idiotic to pull him after one batter and play Russian Roulette with the next pitcher. If 2 lefties are coming up next inning, bring in a lefty, etc. Don't match up batter to batter in general. Just my opinion.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I can't believe the Tigers blew this game F'n Red Sox If the Tigers manage to lose game 3 they're done
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Red Sox W? WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Red Sox W? WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF Total bullpen failure and David Ortiz clutch grand slam. It was unbelievable.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Who said anything about bringing in the closer? I interpreted your post as saying that Benoit shouldn't have challenged Ortiz, that he should've pitched around him and I agree. My point is that if a manager brings in his closer in the 8th inning with the bases loaded, I think he's telling him to get Ortiz out and if you want him to get an out, he'll challenge him. If you want to nibble with Ortiz and try and get him to chase out of the strike zone without caring if you walked him, I think you bring in a lefty. Anyway, seems like Dombrowski should've trade for Janssen and Cecil. Tigers are still in good shape, they're going home with Verlander on the mound, but Farrell's ball club will probably find a way to pull it out.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Dominican Red Sox fanboys will kill me today. Have you seen the play? He almost killed Torii Hunter while he was at it.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Man, Scherzer must be steamed after pitching so well and watching the BP lose the game.
