Jays Win in 2014 Thread

I'mma put my moderator cap on and help to put the train back on it's rails.

 

I've decided to get ahead of the curve here and predict that the Jays make the playoffs next year. This is a thread to discuss positive approaches that the Jays can take to win next year. Extreme negativity suggesting blowing up the team, how bad our prospects are, tanking strategies, how bad AA is etc etc can

be posted in the dozens of threads that perform that service ( often repetitively ).

 

Jays have made good use of the late season to test out their prospects, and unlike in 2012 the young guys have for the most part exceeded expectations.

Knocking the Yankees out of playoff contention and now threatening to derail the Tampa Bay playoff hopes is very encouraging. Confirms that we have far more depth in the org then might have been guessed a few months ago. Lawrie continues to look extremely solid. Sierra is an enigma, looking extremely green at times but one hell of a lot of doubles in limited service. Goins helps their depth, in case they need to take a different route in their free agent goals or trades.

 

A payroll jump of 30-40M wouldn't surprise me.

 

Well there is a lot of positivety coming from the offensive side of the ball, which is really encouraging. But our problem has to be starting. RA Dickey has finally started to look like a #3 instead of a #5... which is a giant step forward from 1st half Dickey. Mark B did his thing as usual, he was really consistent and (up until his last start) injury free. But who do we have after that? Johnson and Morrow, the glass brothers? Ricky I-can't-pitch-because-Rima-Fakih-left-me Romero? At least Drabek is back and Hutchinson is ready for 2014 (I believe). If we fix that our team is good to go. Now by fixing that I mean we need to give up a lot of money. From what I can see, we have 2 #3s (MB+Dickey) and 2 fragile #3s (JJ+Morrow) and 2 wildcards (Drabek+Hutch). We need 2 front of the rotation pitching, and we're good. The BP + offence is solid.

You know it's obvious you're actually 15. You're so caught up in this board it's hilarious. You feel like you're "cool" because you know some basic advanced stats and rip on JPA daily. It must feel good to think you're part of the gang, and all you have to do is mindlessly copy everything they do. BTS is your idol and its gross. Half the time you don't even sound like a jays fan, more like a jays board fan.

 

The best part is how you try to brush it all off with a sarcastic comment about being superior. You're so insecure about you're standing here that you don't even know what you're actually saying. You're trying to convince yourself that you're not what we're saying you are, and it's painfully obvious.

I think it would probably be better to evaluate after our offseason is finished and opening day 2014 is here. Although even then it's hard to predict, because it was pretty highly regarded that the jays would win the World Series in 2013

 

Oh I agree, I'm just looking at things as #162 rolls around. We obviously need serious work aspects of the team. But it's safe to say that if the relief is replicated, and Bautista doesn't decline that much, starting would be the only big problem.

 

Obviously though it doesn't hurt to add an actual 2B, LF and one more relief pitcher (to replace Oliver) along with two front-of-the-rotation starters

I could copy paste the same paragraph to you, but your case is even more severe. Watching your transformation over the past year has been disgusting. From the first time you ripped on JP and you caught BTS's eye it's only gotten worse. The fact that you even write your posts with the same tone as BTS and sometimes even copy him and others is kind of embarrassing. The need for attention can be overwhelming I guess, but the fact that you towards a message board for validation is hilarious. That along with the fact that you think knowing basic SABR stats makes you some kind of kid genius makes your whole facade fascinating. I bet you're normal irl, but on here, oh boy.
