Nox Verified Member Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 way more so than speed after 20 yards I'm certainly not going to disagree that acceleration is not really important but I don't think we should be discounting the ability to hit HRs either. Long TD runs are big Win Probability movers and are hugely valuable in their own right.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Perhaps comparing him to Russel was harsh. I still don't know what to make of him as a pro. The guy is just so dumb off the field it could cause issues on the field. Could you imagine Belichek finding out his QB got the cops called on him for shooting BB guns around the city? I think teams will be willing to take the risk that he will mature as he's only 20 years old... A star quarterback is so rare and important in the NFL that I don't think too many teams will pass up on the best QB prospect since Luck because of maturity issues.

Long TD runs are big Win Probability movers and are hugely valuable in their own right. They're valuable but runningbacks that hit the hole with acceleration can succeed with mediocre O-Lines while the HR hitter types rarely do. Also the super speed guys seem to always be hurt in today's NFL and careers are much shorter. Mcfadden, Spiller etc..

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 He is not the best QB prospect since Luck. Yes he is.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Yes he is. Mariota is the better prospect. I would say both are better than anyone from 2013 and 2014 classes but that isn't saying much.

Mariota plays in a QB friendly system where he almost never has to make tough throws.

I like Bridgewater but Mariota has all the tools to be successful. He still needs to develop a few things but hes got the size/pocket presence and arm to succeed. The biggest thing for me is will he be able to make the adjustments and read defenses.

People are too hung up on "physical tools" when evaluating QBs. Mariota has not shown enough accuracy/pocket presence//going through progressions to warrant being a better prospect than Bridgewater was. In the case of Winston, he has shown all that AND he has the physical tools too. Obviously, Mariota is more mature off the field but I think Winston's game on the field translates to the NFL much better.

Winston has shown that he makes terrible decisions when a defense puts pressure on him. Since FL ST. is so good he has often had so much time where he can sit back and make the throws, but as we saw in games (Florida being the most recent) that his decision making becomes bad and he throws bad passes that turn into picks. Hes going to be facing defenses in the NFL that come up with fancy blitzes and schemes to defeat him and the big question is will he make the adjustments. His release is also a question mark. His behaviour off the field is not as simple as you make it out to be. Who's to say a guy with the trouble he has had making 5 million is going to turn it around. If anything he could turn into Vince Young.

It's just really hard to judge Mariota because he plays in a system that makes any QB look great - most of the offense are bubble screens and slants.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Jay Cutler for Bills QB plz.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Jay Cutler for Bills QB plz. Gross.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Terrible play call by the Redskins last possesion.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Too early.. Heh, you're right.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Bridgewater's playing very well.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Five Survivor pools for a total of 8 entries. won my two smallest ones ($70 and $145) the five eliminations were over four different N.O. losses. The pool I won $70 was restarted and down to the final two...but I don't learn and am about to be eliminated by New Orleans again. Have to hope for a Buffalo loss to split the cash.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Oh yeah and I think Mariotta is the real deal. Winston will be in baseball by the time Mariotta starts his first pro bowl.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Lolll blocked punt for a safety, what a ridiculous game. What was the line on a 37 point 4th quarter?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Colts coaching staff is retarded.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Colts coaching staff is retarded. Is TY playing? Nvm: Just looked it up. He's not. If Moncreif has a decent game i have a good shot at winning 1k in my daily fantasy today.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Packers...Booyah! I'm a huge Bucs fan but forced myself to take the packers D today. Price was just too good. 3 points, 7 sacks, and 1 INT. They did well for me.
