Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Happ needs to go back to the minors.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 The game started off with JPA not being able to make a good throw back to Happ and Happ not being able to catch it. Looks like we're in for a ball buster!
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Lets hope Happ can hold them from here and we can finish off the series with a win.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Nice hit, but it seems like EE should have made it to 2nd.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Why is lind batting 5th he is hitting lije .090 since june.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Lind is back to normal. Dariel Abreu is the guy AA do it
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Red Sox at the park as fans thats kind of awesome. I wonder if they're cheering for us. I didn't even notice that. That's awesome!
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Happ scouting report: pretty good control, stuff sucks.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 His control also sucks. If that was actually true he wouldn't even be in the majors.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Happ scouting report: pretty good control, stuff sucks. Andy Pettitte?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 High WHIP + Dingers............Happ is great BTW
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Andy Pettitte? He reminds me of a poor man's Mark Buehrle... but Pettite is a pretty good comp too
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 High WHIP + Dingers............Happ is great BTW Confucius Say JPA is a Major Leaguer.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Pedroia, Salty and Gomes They look like a cross between hobos and gino clubbers
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 He reminds me of a poor man's Mark Buehrle... but Pettite is a pretty good comp too Not Buehrle. Happ just pumps almost nothing but fastballs in there. He doesn't have one dominating enough to do that.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 You could argue he shouldn't be. It is true. Hes wild in the strikezone. He throws 90 and pitches at the top of the zone because he can't get the ball down. I find he works the sides of the plates pretty well...that's about all I'll say about that.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Wow Happ looked really unathletic there, not sure if his knee is still an issue, I'd imagine not or he wouldn't be pitching
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 You only think Happ has control because he was in a positional battle with RickyRo in ST. He has a career 4.02 BB/9. That's bad. Yeah he walks too many. Yeah he nibbles. He still has pretty good control. He has to do those things because his stuff sucks and his velocity is nothing special, or else he'll get pounded.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 pathetic offense is what it is.... lottery pick baby!
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Straily nos esta jodiendo. Hutchison > Straily
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 I wonder if they're sitting in the scout seats or bought the tickets themselves. who cares, they are going to kick our ass tomorrow.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Control is your ability to not walk guys. The Major Leagues walk 3.01 guys per nine innings this year. Happ is routinely over 4.00 and has a career 4.02. If by "pretty good" you mean "fairly bad", you'd be correct. Are you missing something? This is funny because I was arguing with someone over Redmond being better than Happ because he has better control, and the person went on to say how his BB/9 is not a reflection of him having better control. Infact the argument was enough that I altered my view-point of the defintion of control. If a pitcher just throws balls down the middle of the plate he's going to have a low walk rate but that doesn't mean he has good control, actually he probably has bad control. Happ is a guy that has to work the sides of the plate because he has to, he does this effectively enough, I never said he had great control or even good control, I said he has pretty good control.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 What you're thinking of is command, which is a different thing altogether. Control is the ability to throw strikes, command is the ability to throw the ball exactly where you want to - quality strikes, essentially. I'd say Happ has good command for somebody with his control. OK you got me there... control was a poor choice of words.
