It's really obvious how much they just want to lay into this team and let 'em have it, but they obviously can't just go rogue on the organization that employs them, so they resort to this kind of passive-aggressive over-complimenting of the opposing team to get their message across to us fans who are willing to read between the lines. It's kinda amusing to me to listen to, actually.

Regardless of that silly 100 dollar action, to have the top defender in MlB is a coup and to trade him was silly. Escobar was lazy but good but Hech was beyond good. Imagine if he even hit 255 with that D? This was AAs huge error, more than the Mets deal.

They're terrible announcers, granted. Pat is an obvious homosexual who just can't contain himself with his muscular thighs fetish, and Buck sounds like a drunk Alzheimers patient.

 

Still, I just wish Rogers would drop their pathetic policy of not allowing their radio/tv whores to criticize the team. It's beyond childish.

I wonder how good the D actually is. Everyone raved about it in the minors, and it looked good to my very untrained eye in the majors, but UZR and DRS have him at about average through ~900 innings. The bat looks like it will allow him to be an average or better starter if the defense is the elite +10-15 run wizardry we expected. But is it?

 

To the eye it is. This is why I really dislike defensive metrics right now though. Until fieldfx comes into play there's no way to fairly determine defensive ability from the stats imo.

Indeed. 900 innings isn't a big enough sample anyway, but we're getting to the point where we can start asking just how elite it is, especially considering how DRS and UZR are pretty close for him.

 

 

 

I don't really have an opinion at all. I'm no scout, and I don't really trust scouting reports/broadcasters' opinions. He looked good, and we've heard great things, but if he's actually elite, it should start showing through in the numbers.

 

Mostly everyone said he would hit 200. He is in his first year on a crap team, come on. Imagine if he were ss with an elite or good2nd base. Really!

Its really quite awful.

 

he only gets 1 or two steps before the ball is by him. diving really doesn't help if you are 10 ft away. he's average to his right, but really s***** up the middle.
