Buck may be a great colour commentator, but he's very poor at play-by-play. Pronunciation of names and garbled calls aside, he leaves too much dead air with long silences.

That's how baseball broadcasts generally are, during the course of 9 innings your going to run out of things to talk about

I don't think that's true on either level. I'm singling Buck's silences out because they strike me as exceptional compared to other broadcasters. As for 'running out of things to talk about', that should not be true for a skilled commentator. Every pitch brings its own set of data and talking points. You can talk about the hitter's form, the pitcher's recent form, how the hitter and pitchers perform on the relative pitch count, as well as any anecdotes/trivia concerning the players involved. If anything, the skill is in discerning which information to present and commentate on.

And here I am, wishing Buck would talk even less...

Seriously that call by buck today when Bautista threw out the runner at home. The guy did it in monotone. Seriously we need a new play by play man. Make things interesting. Some enthusiasm please!

It might just be (almost) every day with Buck and Pat, but Morris is a breath of fresh air when he gets moved into the TV booth.

And I didn't mind Devlin at all.

They actually do a good job at talking throughout the moments where a pitcher decides to take 2 years to throw a single pitch. I like them, they're entertaining imo. I don't need them to be insightful, Im just watching a baseball game, not really looking to learn about players and whatnot. I can do that on my own time

I have nothing to say about Buck other than I watch most of the game on mute.

No you don't. I love Buck. It made my year when he bungled that Bautista homer.

LOL, yes I do, I only turn up the volume in certain times during the game. The guy I can't stand even more is Tabler. However, I found that when Devlin filled in for Buck, I could tolerate not muting the broadcast, but it's probably an SSS.
