GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 small. f***ing. sample size. And NOBODY worth their weight in dog s*** wanted Cecil or Rasmus gone. Everybody wanted to see how Cecil would do in the pen. This is exactly when a shrewd GM would sell high as f*** on Lindy. Sell sell sell. His BABIP is like, .400. There's a lot of players we should be selling high on.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 ******** Nick Lots wanted Cecil gone and many wanted Rasmus traded to get Gose into center and I,ll bet lind is still hitting well at years end . Not saying we shouldn't sell high on Lind but since we are all f***ing in for the next 2and a half years we might keep him as we can't replace his bat for 5 mil. It is too early to dismantle this team . Trade JJ , Oliver , davis ,Boni as long as you get value fine but you guys who want a wholesale rebuild are looking at TOO SMALL A SAMPLE to use your own words right back at you. So because we're "all in", (pretty sad if that is an "all in" team) & there was glaring holes on this team coming into the season, we have to stick with an old, expensive team? Um, don't think so. I'd still deal any and all players as long as we get a nice return for the players. In my world, windows to win don't exist. It should be a continual plan to get better. Windows to win, appeasing fans by keeping name players around aren't "all in" moves, nor should a team be built that way.

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Gose over Rasmus is LOL I forgot, Colby does that ultra cool gun sling thing after he catches the ball and Jose looks over at him. We must keep him, the kids love that s***.

Smokey Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 No Most won't . I don't see some of the real Lind haters on this board admitting they were wrong Remember in the offseason when you thought JP+Sierra was all Dickey was worth but then when the price ended up being at least 10X that, you acted like it was a great deal? Losing hope in Lind and Cecil is somewhat understandable but flip-flopping the way you did was truly embarrassing.

imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 At the start of the season the bulk of this fanbase wanted Lind , JPA , Cecil and to a lesser degree Rasmus Gone . Lind is hitting and getting on base better than anyone else on this team . Cecil is the best reliever on this team . Rasmus is coming around . Still K,s too much but his average is improving Only JPA continues to struggle And the darlings , Morrow has been s*** . Lawrie has been s*** Funny how baseball works . I had a funny feeling Adam Lind might come back to his old form because Murphy wasn't the hitting coach anymore, but I'll have to admit that I was hoping for Lind for Morneau trade:) I am glad Cecil has bounced back ( thanks to Steve Delabar training program) and has found a good role suited for him. Everyone knew JPA would s*** the bed here and I've hated having him the number 1 catcher from the start.

imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 also, I must admit. That I thought the season was over!
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Ken, what happened there? 6 minutes prior you responded to the exact same post from East and weren't upset. Ah just one of my few times when I rage over some of the premadonas on the board who will never admit to being wrong . I freely admit i was wrong . JPA sucks and I really thought with Mottola and experience he would be better .

I was set to be satisfied with a .230 hitting 25 HR catcher if he continued to improve his defence. But he hasn't. And his bat is ice cold to boot.

In may I was all for this but now it seems he is cutting down his K rate and making hard contact more ( haven't looked at the #,s ) so he is building value . I agree with Vik that this team only needs a rotation to compete and next year the depth is deeper in the rotation so maybe keeping Rasmus for another year might just be smarter

I had actually stated he would have a 240 to 250 average and with experienced pitchers improve his defense . While there is lots of season left to improve right now he looks worse than many of his detractors say he would be . guy has NO CLUE of the strike zone . I think any time he gets a strike thrown to him is when the pitcher makes a mistake .
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 also, I must admit. That I thought the season was over! Not an unreasonable assumption when you dig a hole as deep as this team did . Now you just look for improvements and take oit a game at a time

I not alone in thinking this team with a couple of starters (Healthy ) is competative . The time to decide is probably next year at the trade deadline . Too many injuries and the fact they just didn't gel fast enough but appear to be getting there now . Sure moves should be made if they improve the team for next year and beyond . I would love to see JJ pitch great ditto Oliver and move them at the deadline in a package for Wong or something like that.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 As I posted to Nick . since we are all in for 3 years not just this one it is too early to wholesale sell off and too small a sample size of the team performance to sell low. but we have a mess on the 40 man still and we don't have guys that you can trust to stay healthy in positions of depth. There are only 2 or 3 guys that have value and can be moved. If it's time to start looking at next year moving Rasmus might be the best way to fill holes without losing value. If the thoughts are to compete this year...well good luck to them. It better be successful.

East , why would you think juiced would delete a thread that only you, Nick, and Boxy are worked up on . Now maybe I should have had the title being Who was right on Lind and Cecil and JPA I suspect Nick is pissed because he was mostly right and hated the direction of the team at the time and who can argue with that. Boxy has always hated the booster and me so will dish me every chance he gets And I admit i took this too far when i stated I knew you wouldn't admit you were wrong but did post how much I was wrong.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Gose over Rasmus is LOL and in Texas they were saying that Martin and Gentry platoon over Hamilton was an LOL, they haven't even hit all that well and have done the job better than he can. Gose should never ever see a lefty but Gose and the right defensive platoon easily replace Rasmus (and I am far from a Gose guy).

I have echoed your posts on this many times with all the guys coming back off the 60 day DL . I posted both ways on Rasmus , In May I posted that exact thing and now I'm waffling . JJ needs to get pitching better and then moved before he gets hurt again . ditto Oliver . I wpould also move one of Boni or Izturis . Davis , Gone , and if value can be gotten I would move more BP pieces but all to improve the team for both the future and next year
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Gose+ Davis CF over Rasmus is ok Seriously...f*** Davis, lets get one that we are comfortable to put in CF and can make better contact. I'm very anti Rajai, I'd love to see some intelligent ball players here, get some f***ing True Cardinals.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Threads like these serve no purpose. All they do is create animosity on here. Admin please lock/delete this thread. Is animosity a negative for a board? We all new this would happen when the team started playing better, when they start losing again or the next major injury happens...everyone will be anti Dickey and Buehrle or AA or just whoever. People are excited about the team right now so they are more than willing to overlook the holes, of course we're still just as close to the Astros as we are to the 2nd wildcard.

kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Do you prefer Gose facing lefties? I'm full of our s***** defense and seeing Davis in Center in a platoon would pretty much drive me over the edge . Bonifacio (even with his terrible defense ) replaces Davis as the 4th OF. Saki replaces Boni in the infield .Sometimes you have to take defense over a bat and some of our rotation woes early in the season came from the disgrace our s***** defense put on our starters . Pitchers sometimes take on bad traits when they aren't sure anyone can catch the ball behind them
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Do you prefer Gose facing lefties? No but Pillar is a 364/.403/.515 vs. Lefties (I don't care about the age to level that's still screams a guy that will be able to hit lefties at all levels)...I still don't know enough about his D but he screams a great long term Gose platoon/4th OF for the Jays. We'd just have zero OF depth in minors as we have to part ways with Sierra after this season.
