Can't grip the bat yet, and doesn't know when he can, but it should be a minor injury Texas is frustrated, having only 4 victories in 13 games this month and only hitting .216 as a team saw the Oakland Athletics starting to run with the lead in the West. They desperately need offensive help with Kinsler sidelined and the lack of a proper replacement for ex-Ranger Josh Hamilton. Josh Lindblom (filling in for DL'd Alexi Ogando) hasn't faced the Jays in previous years, and the only current Jays he has faced is Mark DeRosa, Melky Cabrera and Josh Thole. All of them have 2 PA against him each, and DeRosa has SSS success as he has gone 2-2 in those ABs. Jays: Adam Lind's 2/4 night gave him his 11th multi-hit game in his past 17 games. In these 17 games he's hit a mean .436 with 7 two-baggers and 3 big flys The Jays are 4-1 this season against the Rangers this season (2-1 home, 2-0 away) and they need to keep it up. They are 6 games under .500, and with players such as Johnson, Morrow, Reyes coming back in the next few weeks, and Hutch, Drabek, Perez, Santos coming back after the All-Star Game, it's still possible to squeeze into the playoffs. The Jays need a big win streak, and they have 3 in a row so far coming into this game. G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 How are the Rangers 9 games over .500 with so many s*** starters in the rotation?!?!?!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 GDT suggestions: Love the graphics. Keep all of them. Reduce the batting stats. It's a bit much. Show the other team's record and standings.

kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 I like how Kawasaki has a 13.4% walk rate when he was only projected to be around 5.7%.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 I like how Kawasaki has a 13.4% walk rate when he was only projected to be around 5.7%. I'm not gonna look up the stats or anything, but I assume it's because he takes so many pitches but his contact rates are higher and o-swing% lower than projected. Just an assumption.

Just an assumption. I don't know if there are projections for swing and contact rates, but compared to last year, his O-swing went from 28.5% to 21.8%, and his Z-swing went from 63.8% to 59.4%, so he's certainly swinging at less. He's also seeing about 8% fewer pitches inside the zone. His O-contact went from 66.1% to 83.3%, and his Z-contact went from 90.2% to 95.7%. So not only is he swinging at less, and walking more, but he's making contact on more of the pitches he does swing at.

kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Those are some pretty insane differences, I wonder what happened. I wonder if it's something as simple as consistent appearances. I did a quick check of his game logs and came up with some interesting numbers:

2012 2013

PA 115 164

Team Games 157 55

One day off 8 5

Two days off 9 0

Three or more days off 12 0

Played, but did not start game 32 7

Started, but did not finish game 6 9

Hey bro, awesome GDT as per usual. Sorry to completely miss your post last night, was typing in a hurry, I'm hoping to post more but it's tough. How's the knuckler looking guys? Good to see Lind staying hot!
jaysfaithful8 Verified Member Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Ugh, the bottom 4 of our lineup.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Wasn't Lindblom a reliever? Texas going with what they have I guess.

Dickey prefers working in the heat and hopefully the climate in Texas helps him out. Plus the cold bats of the Rangers may also make him look a bit better. *knock on wood*
