Metallijay Verified Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I am by nature a person who goes into something 100%, this includes rooting and going for certain sports teams, the issue is at times I get really invested in their fates, and players, and when things go real bad (Like this year), it actually effects my mood, demeanor after. I wish I was a casual fan sometimes, who didn't get effected as much , but I am not. Is anyone like this? After watching the game last night I was in a bad mood, maybe I am mentally unstable lol.

Eh last time I got depressed over a sports team was the Raps losing in the 2006 playoffs.
declan_44 Verified Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Yep, I feel like s*** after a loss and have to go for a walk to clear my mind. But then I'm fine the next day, because they could win the next game. I'm the same way, fortunately I'm off to bed after most broadcasts so it doesn't last long.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 No. I kept my hopes down in the offseason. It's really helped cope and stay emotionally detached.

Following the rest of the majors and watching MiLB games and seeing that things aren't rosy everywhere else tempers any mood swings for me.

bzapple Verified Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Losing to division rivals can be pretty irritating, particularly this year when there were actually expectations. But I know it's out of my control so I can usually brush it off pretty quickly. For games like the one tonight, I just do my best to remove my personal attachment to the team and watch it like any other baseball game.
