HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Ricky has been dumped Blue Jays-Official @BlueJays 3m .@BlueJays have optioned RICKY ROMERO to @BuffaloBisons (AAA) and designate EDGAR GONZALEZ for assignment.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 he wasn't called up for value. he was called up because JJ is missing starts. instead of making a real move AA brought up a guy who wasn't close to ready. And that real move was what?
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Romero was actually very good the first 3 innings and then he fell off a cliff. he's not mentally ready and bringing him up was a huge mistake. jays are in trouble because AA didn't make a move to bring in a legit 6th starter when it was obvious to everyone that Romero was damaged goods. now he has the same problem as last year. if anyone gets hurt they are screwed. until Hutch and Drabek come back they dont have any options unless AA makes a move. And next year, the Jays should have 7 legit starters right? You guys are f***ing hilarious. The Jays need to work with what they have. A legit 6th SP is really a junky SP, so what's to be enamoured with? The Braves as an example had a s*** ton of SP in the majors and AAA/AA as depth and things haven't gone according to plan the past two years with all that perceived depth they had. Stop panicking like their wasn't 100 contingency plans if this or that happened.
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 They purchased the contracts of P Ramon Ortiz and P Mickey Storey to replace Romero and Gonzalez. Storey could be interesting--he's K'd 11.9 batters/9 IP in Buffalo. No surprise to see a callup.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Ya I'm surprised that we don't hear a whole lot about Storey - I think that guy is more of a 1 inning pitcher though, right? He could end up being more useful than Rogers...
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Boston's contingency plan with Allen Webster last night didn't work out either--trying to find someone who could pitch better than Felix Doubront(who has been as bad or worse than Romero, but can't be sent to AAA), and it failed miserably. He's not ready.. but Boston has few options. As for the Jays, it'll likely be Ramon Ortiz, Claudio Vargas, Ryan Tepera, Sean Nolin or Chad Jenkins likely going into the rotation..
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Romero shouldn't be anywhere near the MLB team unless AA is conceding the season. It was obvious last season when he had those severe control issues that something wasn't right with him. He followed that with an atrocious spring and people were still singing his praises and hoping Happ would be the one sent down. I didn't get it then and I still don't. The guy is just not right, we know it, the organization knows it and yet here he is in the majors costing us games that we simply cannot afford to lose. If we don't have viable options in AAA, well then it's pretty clear AA s*** the bed on this. We literally have nothing. Vik, when the season started and looking at the AAA rotation who was the viable option you saw? This is a hindsight call on s***ing the bed. And remember you were the one willing to lose RP depth by bringing the best team North, by disregarding player options. I believe Cecil was one you were willing to lose for nothing. We're enduring injuries, we didn't have a viable option to replace these guys in AAA when the year started, this concern, should've been made then, not now.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 The Jays go through pitchers like the dogg goes through personalities. And keeps coming back to the same ones too just like him too Hahahaha
