Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Blue Jays place JA Happ on DL with head contusion, purchase contract of Edgar Gonzalez from Triple-A.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 sorry but........I need to post this s***
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Well, we had to have someone available to eat innings if Romero struggles or has blister problems again. Can't pick and choose much on short notice.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 sorry but........I need to post this s*** Why are you sorry? Thanks for the update bro!
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Holy s***, he's not starting, right? Of course AA picks the worst possible option.
Hemingways007 Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 What are his stats so far in triple A? Just curious. Thanks for the update Angrioter.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Yeah, I could see them having Edgar as long-relief while Lincoln replaces Happ.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 See if you can pull a few strings and get Negrych up here.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Holy s***, he's not starting, right? Of course AA picks the worst possible option. Probably just bullpen help until they decide on a replacement for Happ.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 What are his stats so far in triple A? Just curious. Thanks for the update Angrioter. John Lott @LottOnBaseball 1m Edgar Gonzalez was up earlier this year with #BlueJays: 2ER in 3.2IP. In four starts with Buffalo Gonzalez is 1-0 with a 5.49 ERA.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Romero Dickey Morrow Cecil? day off
Metallijay Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 With edgar gonzalez we are going to win it all...........................

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Carreno is having a great year so far in AA. He could of been a good option also.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Probably just bullpen help until they decide on a replacement for Happ. I really hope this is the case. If he's starting, we're completely and utterly doomed.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Carreno is having a great year so far in AA. He could of been a good option also. Didn't Carreno start on like 1 hour's sleep after a red eye during a game last year? And it was burning hot or something? All I remember is him giving up about 4 runs a couple of times. I know he's been epic at AA but that's still only AA. I say we promote the kid and stretch him out at AAA, but I don't think putting him in the spotlight for a start just yet is smart.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Probably just bullpen help until they decide on a replacement for Happ. Gulp. So we start Cecil???
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Edgar Gonzalez and Machete in the same team at same time Cartel de medellin
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Holy s***, he's not starting, right? Of course AA picks the worst possible option. I suspected them to do this, call up a fresh arm. They're going to keep him for 3-4 days before DFAing him and calling up a starter from the minors. They don't need the 5th starter just yet

GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Gonzalez will be a mop-up inning eater until they need a start. Thank jeebus lol. Now, back to finding someone to start that isn't complete s***.

I meant he'd be a decent 2-3 inning guy to use in a Gonzalez or Cecil start.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Brandon McCarthy Anybody taking the hard line stance today that pitchers should be wearing helmets, need to get out their tool kits and make a good one.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 He's not going to fool anyone if he keeps the ball down in the zone and in the park he can be quite effective. He doesn't walk guys, is very hittable. Currently in Buffalo he's getting BABIP'd (.369) to his numbers. In the past 3 years he's only gone into the 7th inning 4 times.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I meant he'd be a decent 2-3 inning guy to use in a Gonzalez or Cecil start. You mean like a gas can? I think he can be a bit more than that, he'd be better off developing. Find someone else, someone shittier, to eat a few innings, in that case.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Loup could probably give us 5 innings on under 50 pitches... Gonzalez is just emergency help though until they can call up who they prefer (if it's even required with the off-days). It's too bad Dickey has been battling the sore back or they could probably have him throw 5 or so on his throw day between starts. It would only need to be short term until JJ (hopefully) comes back or McGowan gets stretched out anyway.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 The Jays have a rest day after the start, so I'd just use the whole bullpen and not have a real starter. Use Cecil for two innings, Lincoln for two, Rogers for two, and then play matchups. Huh, yeah, I like this idea, although I'd probably start Lincoln over Cecil. Remember that epic 3 inning Loup save? I bet he could give us 3-4 innings.

Find someone else, someone shittier, to eat a few innings, in that case. No,not at all. I'm just saying it's highly probable that Cecil could start and give us 3-4 decent innings. Carreno could be used as a bridge to the latter innings without taxing our pen. Carreno is better than a gas can, that i totally agree with. He's had a taste in the bigs before,so the transition shouldn't be dramatic.
