Sometimes a douchebag is not misunderstood, they're just douchebags.

Yet you a hardon for Kawazaki in like two games :P

I love Escobar... playing for someone else. he gift wrapped 3 bad plays and personally gave the jays game 1. he has moments of brilliance, but they are easily offset by him forgetting to bring his brain to the game some days.

He did the same thing against the Braves when we had him last year. Might have been spring training but I remember it distinctly. Just becomes a stupid show off who makes mistakes when he thinks he has something to prove against an old team or something.

If Happ's knee injury isn't too major, it's probably a blessing for him right now. It should give him some needed time off to regroup rather than be thrown back into the fire (assuming his head is in fact okay).

I don't know, IMO at that point the game doesn't matter, I think it is classless to take advantage of happ being hit to run around the bases. It's clear the jays were not concerned about the play at that point. They saw what happened and then ran.

bitch please, it's all technical. If you want to bitch about Escobar then how about you bitch at Arencibia for guarding the plate (and not tending to Happ). Or how about Bautista for not running all the way from RF (and instead retrieving the foul ball)

Everyone in the game knows that the ball is live until indicated otherwise.

Folks here are just looking for new things to hate on Escobar. s***, even that maricon business wasn't bad to begin with.

What do these other plays have to do with anything? they are not even close to the same scenario as running the bases after a pitcher is potentially seriously hurt. The jays were more concerned about their teammate then the game at that point, pretty simple to understand. I t has nothing to do with escobar, don't care who was on base.

Every other sports stop when a player is seriously hurt, it's called class.

Kawasaki is funny, Joonel isn't.

LOL

Escobar thinks he's the life of the party though.

Kawasaki is just trying really hard to be one of the guys. he's a great teammate. I was really impressed with him being the lead cheerleader when DeRosa pinch hit for him. lots of guys would be in sulking. Kawasaki was on the top rail clapping and cheering. he's a class act.

Not true at all. In other sports (except Football) the officials have the ability to stop the play. If the Rays stopped running the ump still wouldn't have called time until the ball came into the infield. Think back to the Buck Martinez broken leg, does anyone talk about how Gorman Thomas should have stopped running. Buck even knew it and tried to throw him out at 3rd. Was Gorman Thomas the biggest douchebag ever?

Blame the umpires for not calling it a deadball. There's nothing Tampa/Jays could do until they made the call. If the Jays had more concern about Happ than the game then they wouldn't have got the ball. They all would have loligagged to the mound until the umpire called time. But as you can see, both Arencibia and Bautista admitted that they couldn't do much until play stopped. That's the technicality of baseball. Just have to deal with it.

On that play yes. IMO the play should stop, lets agree to disagree. Also it was clear happ could be seriously hurt, in bucks case he may not have even known he was hurt much at all.

I just can't respect someone who could write something THAT stupid on his eye black.

I don't care if he saved a bunch of puppies from a burning building before each game. That is just inexcusable judgement from someone in the public eye. The guy is a mouth breather and I'm glad he's gone.

Maybe a rule change is in order but for now I don't agree that the players doing what they are taught to do is wrong. In the McCarthy incident last year his own team continued to make the play at 1B. On the Cameron's broken jaw the umpire called time giving the Brewers a run to allow the training staff to get out to CF.

They need to change the rules where if a fielder is hit and there's a significant injury, the play is dead and it's a ground rule double subject to umpire's discretion, like all other similar type of "interference" plays.

Oh the irony if Happ ends up missing time because of a knee injury and nothing to do with the head.

I agree with this. These guys have played this game their whole life and a lot of their actions are based on pure instinct. I'm sure some players probably feel bad after the fact that they kept running, but in the heat of the moment, I can see how their brain wouldn't be able to process the injury faster than ahead of their instincts kicking in.

it was up to the ump to make a decision. they went after the rules. I'm not sure if there is a provision to stop play for injuries, but there should be for head injuries. Soccer, basketball and hockey all stop play for head injuries.

ok, is it just me or was it sad that Happ had to take the hotel bus back to the team???

the team didn't go get him, they sent the shuttle bus to the hospital. seems cold the day after he took one in the face.

What's the 'good' alternative?

Dudes a big leaguer...if he can't figure out how to hail a cab, or call for a car service by now.....?

One interesting take-away from Hayhurst's last book was that guys for the most part manage their own transport even on the road....team bus is for going to/from airport only.
