BTS Community Moderator Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Yeah but I already got the best parts of that line. It would be a dream if he got traded to the Yankees, for sure. My point was that those numbers aren't really impressive for a guy playing at his peak. He's not even been more valuable than CJ Cron.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 I think overall it's a pretty fair conversion. Solid 30 year old = Top 50 prospect + pick Belt is the the exact type of player I was looking for when I made my post. Just a solid older player to help my offense.

He is ideal in this format as an OBP supplement. That first is likely in the 15-20 range anyway so yeah, I think it’s sensible for you to push in some chips as a strong contender to get Tim Anderson out of your lineup.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 20, 2018 Author Posted July 20, 2018 Top 40 prospect and a 1st is clearance price? You must really love Belt. It's not a very valuable first. And the prospect is a PITCHER!
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 It's not a very valuable first. And the prospect is a PITCHER! Good pitchers usually start as good pitching prospects, so they can't all break. Not every good pitcher is Corey Kluber or Jacob DeGrom who totally came out of nowhere to become aces over night.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 My fact-based analysis of current top aces and whether they were notable prospects or not: Verlander - I'm too young to remember but pretty sure he was a top prospect Sale - Top prospect Scherzer - Elite prospect Kluber - NP Severino - Top 20 prospect DeGrom - Not a notable prospect Cole - Elite prospect Nola - Top 50 prospect Bauer - Elite prospect Snell - Top 20 Prospect Greinke - Elite prospect Paxton - Top 50 Corbin - Mid-rotation prospect/backend Top 100 type Berrios - Top 20 prospect Morton - Lol f***ing silvergun always Manaea - Top 50 prospect Carrasco - Top 50-100 prospect, post-hyper Folty - Backend top 100 guy, stuff/no command type Skaggs - Top 20 prospect Strasburg - elite prospect Kershaw - elite prospect Syndergaard - elite prospect McCullers - Top 100 prospect Buehler - Elite prospect Ohtani - elite prospect David Price - Borderline #1 overall prospect Really most of the top fantasy pitchers were good prospects at some point with 3-4 exceptions.

You missed Ross Stripling.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 You missed Ross Stripling. If Ross Stripling is good this time next year I'll be happy to put him on the Non-Prospects Who Panned Out list. Not ready to buy in.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 There are dudes on that list who are obviously not aces, I was just running through the current Yahoo Top 25 and then a couple from the next page who are ace-y.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Verlander was an elite prospect I have this vague memory of Bonderman being their next big ace in the making, and then uberprospect Verlander burst onto the scene and quickly overtook him.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 20, 2018 Author Posted July 20, 2018 I've been spraying around offers including these players, trying to do a 2 for 1, so I figure I'll just post the names here publicly and if anyone is really hot for them they can make an offer. Cionel Perez Pablo Lopez Corey Dickerson Jose Martinez Jorge Polanco Prices vary a lot. Main focus is upgrading my MLB team. Perez and Lopez nuked the minors this year and they both have the stuff to back it up - very attractive young arms.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 If I provide you with an upgrade anywhere, let me know. I'd be interested. Quick podcast recording next week?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Hey would you guys mind giving my team to Wok or something? I don't have the time or interest.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 I'm going camping too so I'll be offline this weekend.I should have thought of this sooner. Sorry for the lack of heads up.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 20, 2018 Author Posted July 20, 2018 Maybe we will put a pin in it for the weekend and you can reaffirm your decision on Monday? Don't be too hasty here.

O.K I just really enjoyed the all star break and was tempted to make the break permanent but you're right that I'm probably overreacting to a busy period in my work and life. I'm sitting in a camp chair drinking beer and using mobile data right now and it doesn't seem so pressing a concern anymore.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 Sorry, guys. I've tried to keep a full roster all season but it may get a little ugly down the stretch. Just wanted to give a heads up. Trading Pham to Laika.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 I'd like to find new homes for Justin Bour, Jake Lamb, and Jose Alvarado.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 I’m glad I don’t live in a world where a 30 year old 4th OF can become a .400 wOBA beast overnight and keep all his gains.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 What does this mean Means you can't quit Pham. Yellow fever and all that.
