jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I'll do the deal with z3r0s - Pick 51 for Lorenzo Cain and Matt Davidson. If he wants to still do this, he can confirm on here and my favourite commissioner NJH can process the deal.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 You're a moron. I said I'll likely make a decision earlier - and likely within this hour. Had to have dinner and run out to do some errands. I should just wait until my clock expires to piss you off even more. If it was anyone else, I wouldn't have made a peep. You however, have a reputation for being a complete dick during live drafts and it's embarrassingly pathetic how hyprocritical you are.

That was two years ago, and I was just doing it for fun - do you actually think I was serious? Like seriously, stop PMSing and chill out.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 They don't actually go through that many injuries, most of it is confirmation bias. ------ Jaysblue, you're allowed to do your research and come up with a draft board in advance of your picks. People aren't frustrated by the sheer time you're on the clock. We're very understanding of the fact that some members have lives. It's that you are at your computer yet aren't able to make the pick.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Awesome! Glad we were able to get something done! wanted Forbes for some reason, and Lorenzo would be a cut for me for sure going into the OS. Not because of his performance, but because of my situation.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I'm taking Michael Lorenzen at # fiddy tree.

How many hours did I take during my window? 2.5 hrs? Like seriously. I was debating whether or not to make the trade with z3r0s after he posted he wanted to move Cain and Davidson. I had dinner, went out to do some errands, and accepted z3r0s proposal, which he just confirmed now.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I don't much care lol, just giving you the low-down. I think if you hadn't attempted to take Plawecki they'd be much more forgiving, as you'd have appeared to be shopping the pick the whole time. Forbes is a decent pick, z3r0s. Lots of risk in his profile, sure, but you'll probably know by next year's draft if he is worth keeping or not.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 Not accusing jaysblue of lollygagging but I feel this is a good time to reiterate anyways: The 12 hour window is in place to accommodate life. Work, commitments, family stuff, constipation, scheduled masturbation, and furry parties (spanky) will get in the way and people will end up taking the entire window or missing a pick entirely from time to time. It happens. However, the expectation is that if you are at your computer within your twelve hour window, you should be making a pick! Everybody has lots of time to prepare for upcoming picks. When the clock is on you, if you are at your computer, you should be picking! There really aren't any great excuses for chewing up multiple hours of your 12 hour window for the sake of deliberation, especially during the evening, which is a prime window for us to spin off a bunch of picks. I knew my two first round picks would come up while I was at work the other day, and I work in the field with nothing but a constantly dying smartphone with shoddy reception. Nonetheless, I made a shortlist of names the night before and when my pick came up around lunch, I was able to rifle off two picks from the bush while 64 mosquitoes tried to carry me off to Mount Itch. This is not an enforceable rule or anything, and it never will be, but understand that if you are going to be visibly online during your window and not make a selection, then others in the league will get annoyed. You might be frowned upon. Also keep in mind that if you're going to chew up a few hours of prime picking time during your window for the sole sake of deliberation, that might be the difference between someone shortly after you making a pick before work or bed, or missing their window entirely. Be considerate of others and be prepared for your upcoming picks, please! I love you all! This league is amazing! Let's keep it amazing.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 So I have a list now. Please don't draft my players. Thx, BTS
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 North has stopped tweeting updates, what's the draft looking like?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Ok I picked, dinger is up! I'm taking Keith Weisenberg at #54, ISO Horny on the clock.

People have taken much longer previously with their windows. I wasn't shopping the pick in the first place. I made my selection of Plawecki even after z3r0s said he'd move Cain and Davidson. I gave it some thought on whether I should draft a pitcher I wanted or do the trade for Cain, since my outfield has been in shambles this year. I've actually been efficient making my selections during the draft - go and look for yourself. As for me not having a draft list or saying I'm not prepared, don't make that assumption. I don't appreciate the slack from FTD and others, when I didn't even take 3 hours of my draft window. Calm down people.

Laika Community Moderator Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 I love the Lorenzen pick here. I considered him with my last selection. He smells like Jeff Samardzija, which could be good or bad or annoying since Shark took forever to become fantasy relevant and anyone drafting Lorenzen would have long dropped/traded him if he follows that path. The Weisenberg pick confuses me since he seems to be going to school for sure. What's the rationale there?

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Honestly don't know who half these f***ers are. I had like 20% of the guys drafted in the 2nd round on my board. This is a terribly weak draft class it seems.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 I dropped Blanks from my roster, so you can add Cain. Thanks. Done!

You could nab a top 40 guy like JBB or JF (initials just in case) really really late and hold on to them through college and potentially roster a future first rounder.

I was just giving you a hard time because of experiences in the past. I don't ever want someone to feel like they're pressured into making a pick.

The Weisenberg pick confuses me since he seems to be going to school for sure. What's the rationale there? The rationale is that the other guys at the top of my board are in short-season anyway, so I may as well take a college-bound guy who could be a Top 5 pick in a few years. If his stock tanks in the next year or two, I'll think nothing of cutting him loose (a similar experiment did not pan out for me with Karsten Whitson a few years back). I guess my thought process was, if someone took a 3rd or 4th round pick on Beede or Bryant a few years ago, they probably wouldn't regret holding that player through their colleges years if their farm system is otherwise weak (like mine is). Purely an upside play, and Lorenzen, being my safe pick, balances the portfolio a bit.

BP has had some really flattering pieces on Lorenzen lately, one (I assume retarded) scout was even quoted as saying he likes him better than Stephenson now.
