Laika Community Moderator Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 Lawrie is clearly a top...
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Why is everyone so down on Donaldson for, he had a a great BB and K rates. BAIP was a bit hit and should come down next year but he could still post a 280/350/465 line with 20+homers easily.

I still think hell be a great IRL player, but it's not easy to hit 20+ in the Coliseum and I wouldn't be prepared to buy into the idea of all of his peripherals not regressing at least a wee bit.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I'm in a keeper league and I have to pick 2 of the following 5 to keep for life. Since this is a league full of noobs, my team is good and I need a guy who will contribute this year. Choices are: Rendon Paxton Bogaerts Taijuan Corbin Leaning Bogaerts and Walker but curious what you guys think. I could have sworn I posted this somewhere, so forgive me if I did.

Boogers is a no brainer. Paxton is right out. Walker for the pitching risk/reward (take if you can absorb the risk; if you have a fairly deep team and can afford to take a 2014 chance). Corbin for the more bankable pitching contribution this year. Rendon should only really be considered if you have a hole at 2B or 3B.

I think I'd go with Bogaerts and Walker as well. Too many questions (for fantasy) in Rendon, and Taijuan probably won't perform significantly worse than Corbin next year and has a great chance of being better later. Paxton I think has to be behind both of them.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Yeah those were my paths. I really like Rendon, so kinda worried he's gonna break out this year. Probably gonna go with Walker and Boogers though.

Bogaerts and Taijuan for me. Corbin and Paxton aren't even in the conversation and I'd be worried about Rendon's health and position long term.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 How do you guys think this team would fare in DDL? C Avila/Grandal 1B Goldschmidt 2B Carpenter 3B Sandoval SS Jeter/Lindor OF Cargo OF Holliday OF Myers DH Papi SP Fernandez SP Samardzija SP Kuroda SP Cingrani SP Gausman SP Bradley SP Haren SP Pineda RP Rodney & Santos Not much of a bullpen but otherwise I'd imagine it's a playoff team, no?
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Arizona starters have a recent habit of popping up and then fading into the ether. Hudson - hurt Kennedy - from #2 to BP machine Collmenter - it was all smoke and mirrors anyway. Gustavo Chacin style success. Miley - still good but regressed noticeably after 2012. Corbin 2014 - who knows!!!!

Seems likely. Good top end and future in that SP corps, but might be thin in 2014.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I worry about getting enough IP down the stretch, but I'm pretty much all-in at this point.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I'm going to slap out some players of interest shortly, guys that should help win now clubs and building squads. You've definitely captured my interest.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Anything particular FTD? You could get a hand up? PM is your friend. Or e-mail, the DDL messages etc. I'm about to look into it right now. So does this mean you're leaning towards rebuilding?
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Anything particular FTD? You could get a hand up? PM is your friend. Or e-mail, the DDL messages etc. I might send you something soon.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Nope Sent you a PM on DDL forums.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Alright, cheers!! Sent you a PM as well.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 not the park I wanted Tanaka in.... booo! oh well.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Curious.. how does Tanaka's eligibility get handled with your league?
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 They put him in the waiver (MLB) draft. Yep. Every unowned player in Yahoo's system is eligible to be taken in the waiver draft, for that matter.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 not the park I wanted Tanaka in.... booo! oh well. He does get a boost in Wins though with this team.

And if it were to be a new league he would be included in the Yahoo Roster draft, along with Abreu. Wouldn't be eligible for the prospect draft.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Not compared to the Dodgers. But more then the Cubs or Mariners. I'm not 100% sure the Dodgers were serious contenders for him.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) Which cut deadline works best for everyone? Sun Feb 16th at 11:59 pm, or Sun Feb 23rd at 11:56 pm Waiver draft would commence precisely one week hence, on the proboards. This is all assuming that Yahoo is up in time. Superbowl is the 2nd (right?), so I'm guessing Yahoo Fantasy Baseball will be up by like, Tuesday the 11th. Edited January 23, 2014 by Laika
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I'm on vacation from the 7th-19th, so 23rd works better for me, although my roster is at 20 already. I won't be here to assist with the admin work if it's the earlier date.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Why the 11:57 pm if it's the 23rd?
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 I can maybe make it 11:56 if that would work better
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I've already cleared out my excess (other than Grant Green, offer up!) so am fine with either date. I may be unavailable on the 16th so would make my cuts a few days prior.
