apparently JVR is out 6-8 weeks with a broken foot. ha.

I love JvR, hope the healing process goes smoothly. The bright side is that it's good news for tank nation.

So listening to Andrew Walker and he just said he thinks Ovechkin will beat Gretzky's goals record (or be close).

Is this as crazy as I think, or am I missing something?

Gretz; 894 goals

Ovi; 501 at 30 years old.

Say he gets to 50 this year (+/- for sure). He's gotta score like 45 goals a year for the next 8 years to match Gretz, including his age 36-38 seasons.

Thoughts?

He could end up around 800...When I listened they said they don't think it will happen.

I could feasibly see him doing 50 for three more years after this. It's improbable, but not impossible.

The two mock drafts on NHL.com have the Leafs getting Laine at 4.

4. Toronto Maple Leafs - Patrik Laine, RW, Tappara (FIN)

The 6-4, 206-pound forward has a combination of size, skill, strength and soft hands. Laine tied Matthews for most goals (seven) at the World Juniors and finished third in scoring with 13 points for Finland. He has a nose for the net and great offensive instincts.

Also, the Penguins are close to a playoff spot. If they make the playoffs this year the Leafs get the Pens' 2016 1st Rd pick!

Laine would be fantastic, although anyone in the top 5-6 would be another significant piece. Really hoping that the Pens sneak in at the 7th or 8th seed & lose in the 1st round. 2 top 16 picks would be another great step in the rebuild.

That would be ideal in regards to the Pens, I'd be rather surprised if they don't make the playoffs given how talented their roster is.

Add in the potential trades of players like Matthias, Paranteau, Boyes and Lupul etc for picks and the Leafs are lined up for another successful draft.

don't forget komarov

I'm not certain they'll trade him, but his value is certainly at an all time high!

Habs trade Jarred Tinordi for All-star captain John Scott and Stefan Elliott. Then, Montreal proceeds to trade Elliott for some leftover defenceman in Nashville.

What is Montreal doing?

This has to be the first time an all-star captain has been traded and sent to the minors within several weeks of each other, right

Scott won't be able to play in the all star game. Apparently NHL orchestrated this. This is even worse than denying Eric Sogard face of the MLB. Now I don't have any reason whatsoever to watch hockey

Right, and John Scott is what folks want to watch, just stop.

Idk about you but I would've found John Scott playing in an all star game infinitely more entertaining than the same old s***.

The all-star game is a 3 on 3 tournament, same old s***.
