  1. Suarez gave Cease and the Jays an old fashioned lesson on how to pitch.
  2. Have they confirmed Lauer for Wed? The MLB site is saying TBD.
  3. Wow. You nailed it. Good job unveiling my sinister plot.
  4. Great shout - if you can strike out Ohtani and retire Betts to get a save at Dodger Stadium, why not?
  5. We worried about the BP in 2021, it wasn't addressed in time and we missed the post-season because of it. So yeah I do worry and it's not foolish. We have precedent.
  6. You really love that trigger comment lol. Yariel and Little are in Buffalo, Green is gone, Nance is cannon fodder, and we have no idea how Lauer and Hoffman will perform over the long haul. INCOMING: Miles and Rogers OUTGOING: Dominguez We have quality in the BP, but if we get injuries to key guys, and Hoffman can't sort himself out, we're in trouble. And remember, last year we had Rodriguez pitching in high-leverage, including some save situations, and Hoffman as the regular closer.
  7. If it's a close game, who gets the 9th? I'm pencilling in Cease for 5-6 innings. Miles could give you 1-2 innings, 1 inning out of Flu, 1 inning out of Rogers, and possibly Hoffman. Fisher has pitched in 3 of the last 5. But knowing JS, he will throw Tommy Nance out there...
  8. Now, now, bullpen is fine, I've been told. All we need is 5 innings from Cease, and Tommy and the Boys will bring it home!
  9. Not really a new role - that was how he was used in Philly. He will have to be good, otherwise we don't have enough as the BP is currently constituted. There is quality there, but not enough to survive 162.
  10. Ross Atkins looked to the Bible for inspiration: "Go forth and Mantiply..."
  11. Good win, but we should have blown it open in the 7th, and thus avoided the nervous ninth,
  12. If we can get back in contention, we will need to add at least one elite reliever to complement the Rogers-Varland duo.
  13. That old adage is so true - you are only as good as the next day's starter. Looks like Father Time (or Trey Yesavage) is coming for Old Man Max.
  14. That was one of the possibilities, and would have brought up the top of the order, and avoid the DP. Would you rather have Eloy batting with 2 on and 0 out or Schneider with 1 out and 2 in scoring position. I can't blame Schneider, he was going for the win, not the tie. What do you folks think?
  15. Nance didn't pitch that badly in the final game of the Angels series... I'll say it again, give me some of that stuff you're smoking, it must be real gooooooooooooooooooood....
  16. Neither do the waffle stats you quoted - see Jeff Hoffman...
  17. Not what I said, and you know it. If you want to use sophist arguments, be my guest.
  18. We are the baseball equivalent of the dissenting opinion on the Supreme Court.
  19. They're keeping us out of the basement, so I love them!
  20. The bats were fine - we scored 34 runs in that series, and that was with Yamamoto starting 2 games.
  21. Nothing binary about my position. It's called stating facts. And I'm not here to ingratiate myself with anyone. It seems if posters disagree with the party line, they get accused of having mental/personality disorders and are encouraged to leave the forum. The truth hurts.
