  1. He could move him for something worse, let's not crown him the best GM in baseball yet. lol
  2. What I am saying, is they need to know before they make the trade that they have someone lined up for the 5th starter role. Otherwise they are just creating another opening. I am assuming in the trade, they are taking back a bad contract too. So its not like they would be ditching him for free.
  3. Teams will try free agency first. A Berrios trade is unlikley to happen until many of the free agent pitchers are signed. Then they could opt for Berrios because of a lack of options. The problem for the Blue Jays is that if they trade him late in the offseason, they are stuck filling in the 5th starter role with the leftovers. If they are confident they can move him, then it is best to gamble on signing the 5th starter sooner than later, and then dealing him afterwards.
  4. Scherzer probably is open to such a role. Bassitt will have options to start so don't see him taking that role. He will be 37 this year, so I guess it may be possible.
  5. Someone desperate for starting pitching will take a flyer on Berrios. At the very least, the guy puts up innings each year. The problem is that free agency has to thin out before those deals become available. I would also not take back garbage just to move him. I suspect he rebounds this year and becomes more tradeable next summer.
  6. Bassitt looked incrediably good out of the bullpen. If he would accept such a role, I would have no problem bringing him back. He looked better than the other relievers in the playoffs. He will be 37 next year so he may accept such a role on a playoff contender but with teams throwing around starter roles it is probably unlikely.
  7. There is always Skubal. 😉
  8. And just like that the rotation is basically set unless they move Berrios/Lauer out for someone else.
  9. Marte can also play SS and CF so who knows what would be the plan. Gimenez and Varhso are not going anywhere as far as I can tell. So Marte to 2B and Bo goes elsewhere is the most likely scenario. If they somehow get Marte and Bo, then I am not sure what kind of musical chairs happen.
  10. I assume they will sign at least one starter.
  11. Arizona wants pitching which is why i have a hard time seeing a deal with the blue jays.
  12. Glausman Bieber Yesavage Lauer Berrios Obviously, if you can grab another starter and chuck Berrios to the moon, you do it. But it is not a horrible starting 5. If they sign another starter, either Berios or Lauer is gone.
  13. Lets dump Santander and sign Tucker while we are at it🫣
