  1. I think if Springer has a proper offseason to rest, he can still play half his games in one of the corner outfield spots. This would open up DH games foe anyone carrying an injury.
  2. A crippled Springer may be a better outfielder than Santander. 😄 I can see them trading Santander if they sign Tucker. Santander is just a liability defensively, and there are other teams where he would be a better fit. I am confident that Barger will hold his own in right field with his arm. But I cannot see the Jays brass signing off on an outfield where Barger and Santander both start.
  3. I am starting to think Tucker, Bregman. and Bo are going to get alot less than they originally were anticipating.
  4. I do not think the currently available free agents are getting the money they want, hence the hold up. Each of them is waiting for the slightly better player ahead of them to sign so they can become the next hot commodity and generate a bidding war.
  5. C Kirk 1B Vladdy 2B Bichette SS Gimenez/Clement 3B Bregman LF Tucker CF Varsho RF Barger DH Springer Yes, it is Friday and I am drunk.
  6. Okamoto rumors are also fairly quiet.
  7. Ed Rogers is in his mid 50s, time for his mid life crisis spending spree.
  8. Berrios doesn't sound healthy, he may need surgery at some point. Bieber's health is a bit of a question mark and Yesavage has not pitched as a fulltime starter for a complete year. Lauer is probably going to be a starter for most of the year because of this. It is unlikely that all 13 pitchers will be healthy throughout the year. One of those Triple A pitchers will always be up, maybe 2.
  9. It is clearly not very realistic unless the Padres throw in Pivetta, their token Canadian.😉
  10. The bigger issue is getting Berrios to go along with being in the pen. I am sure they are exploring trades, but they aren't going to accept a silly trade just to move Berrios. If they cannot move him, then he is in the bullpen, where he has no track record and will be unhappy.
  11. I agree, I suspect Nance and Miles are fighiting for one spot, which will make room for another lefty in the pen. Either Little or Fluharty probably grab that spot while the other goes to Triple A. Which gives them clear LH and RH reliever (Fisher) options to call up for when injuries appear. If all goes well for Ricky T, we could see him in the 2nd half of the season. I think Miles has an uphill battle to make the roster after missing so much time.
  12. Based on the current roster, who do we think the 13 pitchers are right now? Quite a few guys have options so they can be hidden in Triple A.
  13. I don't see many good fits on a bad contract swap. I suspect Berrios could be here to start the year.
  14. What I am saying is that even in the extreme situation wheren you get both, it is unlikely they will just start unloading other players. The same can't be said for Berrios.
  15. Even if they sign both Tucker and Bo, I don't see them moving other starting players just to cut payroll without clear upgrades. C - Kirk 1B - Vladdy 2B - Bo SS - Gimenez 3B - Clement LF - Tucker CF - Varsho RF - Barger DH - Springer Bench - Heineman, Schneider, Santander, Straw, Lukes One of the bench options on that list goes before anyone in the starting lineup. Probably Santander? If anyone from the starting lineup goes, it is probably Varsho. But I doubt that.
  16. They are going to have to consolidate roster spots in 2 for 1 deals soon. Some of these surplus players will be in demand.
  17. It is not even 2026 yet and it seems like this is down to whether the Jays get Tucker and Bo now. Everything else is sorted it is just a question of whether they move some surplus players out and finalize the roster. There may be a surprise a long the way because there is still plenty of time before spring training but I never expected all these moves qo quickly.
  18. Running out of closer options. Pretty soon they may have to call Bassit to see if he wants to return to the bullpen.😆
  19. The whole Yariel episode tells me they are not going to let payroll get in the way of improving the team. I don't think anyone has a clue on what their payroll ceiling is.
  20. Now that we've discussed all the positions that Ernie can play. What about Ketal Marte? He started in MLB at SS, now plays 2B but has also featured at CF for a lot of games. I always assumed he would be a Bo replacement. But in some unlikely scenario where they sign Bo and Trade for Marte, where does Marte play?
  21. If the Jays have thrown out any semblance of a salary limit, I would trade Berrios for a better player whose on a worse contract. Ar least turn him into something more useful even if the cap hit is worse. So long as its only for 3 years or so, similar to Berrios. Moving him for the hell of moving him seems pointless if its not even freeing up salary.
  22. Ernie also played CF in college. One way or another he is getting into the lineup. The guy can literally rotate across the entire field.
  23. It is usually a good thing when you make 2 for 1 deals. It means you are getting the better quality player and giving away quantity.
  24. He looked like he was improving towards the end. I am not sure if the numbers back that up.
  25. Because of the limited roster spots, at some point they will have to consolidate players together in trades in 2 for 1 deals. They should be proactive and not wait until they have a roster limit crunch.
