    That's exactly why I think they may be trying to bite their tongues this year. It would have been easy for them to bite it right off yesterday though.

    The Sandlin call changed the complexion of the game and the series. He sure seemed to know when to miss a call.

    It seems like John and Pete weren't barking as much yesterday as they would have been last year. The cameras showed a lot of disgust but they didn't seem to be saying too much. I was fully expecting Pete to get the heave-ho during a mound visit. It makes me wonder if they're making an effort to bite their tongues this year.

    Schneider wouldn't have missed too much of the game if he would have lost his mind on the Sandlin pitch at least. I think he commented before he had a chance to watch much video. I'll bet he came unglued if he watched any of it later.

    Yesterday's game was hard to watch for several reasons. The Jays lack of hitting was high on the list for sure. But the home plate umpire was worse than terrible. And his favor towards the Red Sox was downright embarrassing. 2.04 runs in favor of the home team?!! How do you explain that?

    Maybe not yours or mine but some people see the last 3 games as the end of the world.

    People would be a lot more comfortable with this deal had he been raking this year. Unfortunately he's been raking the infield with ground balls instead. Hopefully this new stability is his life will take some pressure off and allow him to be a better version of himself. Theres no doubt about his hit tool when he's right, and he should still be improving at this age. Given the way baseball salaries are skyrocketing, there's a chance this deal looks like a bargain in 7 years or so.

    All that stuff you mention is baseball. An ump turning a judgement call in New York's favor is not. Your argument that the Jays players and management being mostly American precludes an umpire bias makes no sense. I've been watching baseball since the early 70s. I'm guessing long before you were born.

    That check swing call was absolutely brutal. Had Winker made contact it would have been a double! There's only one explanation for a call that bad and it has a lot to do with a New York team being the opponent. If that call is made Winker strikes out, Springer isn't hurt and the Jays probably win the game. Go ahead and claim there's no bias. I disagree. And it's worse when you play New York. And it's bound to be worse this year than before given all the recent events.

    The home plate umpire has missed at least a dozen balls and strikes both ways. There's been an American bias to the umpires for years. If you don't see it you're blind.

    Absolutely. The BS american biased umpiring is going to be a lot worse than usual this year. Guaranteed!

    Exactly! He says he won't negotiate anymore because he wants to concentrate on the season at hand and not be a distraction to the team. Meanwhile he's already dreaming about becoming a Yankee. Trade him!!
