    I agree. Last season Gurriel was hampered with an annoying injury. His 2021 numbers with 500 at bats was a good baseline for him.

    Gurriel in 2021 with 500 AB/ 21HR and 84 RBI, .276 BA/ .466SLG/ .785OPS in 141 games Not bad, last season he only played 121 games way better option than Varsho

    Atkins trade for Varsho clearly hampered the Jays in a huge way. With Danny being oft injured, Kirk is the only option. Moreno would have been the other option. Then Gurriel could have made a difference consistently offensively. But like beating a dead horse

    VarshoÂ’s biggest offensive weapon this season is his bunt. Let that sink in. Atkins traded a very young catcher and a clutch hitter for him.

    At a minimum there are 20 teams ahead of the Jays with better RISP numbers, there is no doubt that their hitting Coach and Hitting Strategist are more effective than Martinez and Hudgens. This team has regressed so much, it’s unimaginable

    So unlucky for Danny Jansen to be this oft-injured with some of the weirdest freak injuries. Because I just donÂ’t trust Kirk. This catcher have questionable Baseball IQ. No leadership skills . Blunt affect. No personality. Watching Andy Rutschman always encourages and communicates with his pitchers is a sight to behold. This little intangibles can be impactful in difficult situations.
