  1. Game starts off really slow but the action picks up, the teams are short on arms so this is mostly in the hands of the bullpens - lots of pitching changes. Throwing the ball to 1st (to try and get the runner) from RF was a thing in 1952, tried once unsuccessfully in this game. In field fly rule existed. Impressive game by Mantle, huge home run, he was only 20 years old here. Jackie Robinson (33 years old) loved to bunt, there was alot of bunting in this game. Phil Rizzuto had a beauty in the 7th. These players can turn the dp just like today - 6/4/3, 4/6/3 - routine. The announcer couldn't figure out what Billy Martin had under his eye lol Mud (Eye black). I guess it wasn't common yet. It was a fun watch but sometime hard to follow because of no graphics - none.
  2. The oldest known surviving complete broadcast of an MLB game available on YouTube, I started watching and I can't stop
  3. I don't quite understand what this means, maybe it would help if we knew the question? why didn't they try and extend him then? unless he just wants to play this out and retire - but that's not good for us
  4. I think Kirk is having issues ramping up where he can handle major league pitching due to missing so much time, essentially this is his spring training except it's vs elite pitching
  5. yea, could be a precursor to another move? plus they stock piled prospects over the years and now have one of the best farms IIRC - maybe they felt it was time to acquire players....
  6. any team trading for him what have to believe he can be fixed, LAD (wouldn't that be funny), CWS, cubs or twins
  7. The Marlins have lost 11 straight Bellinger left todays game with a hamstring injury
  8. I like BV, is he a fluke? maybe....but he always seems dialed in, whether receiving or at the plate, and he's not afraid to swig that bat
  9. shape and kirk.......I thought this was going to be something else
  10. It's hard to justify any of the mega contracts but on talent alone especially the bat Soto is in a different league
  11. a changeup right down the pipe and babe couldn't pull the trigger
  12. 11th best OAA among all CF, 10th last season
  13. I think it's not position specific, on Outfield Throws from CF he is dead last in the league (I did not expect this) https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/arm-strength?type=player&year=2026&minThrows=50&pos=arm_cf&team=&sortColumn=arm_overall&sortDirection=desc
