From what I remember, I said something like "I guess the mods finally did their job" (you know, as someone who is a mod on other sites and is met with the same expectation, lmao) when an out of pocket comment posted by someone was finally removed. One of the mods got really mad that I used the word "job" (taking it literally) instead of duty or responsibility or whatever, freaked out that this isn't their job, and gave me a permanent ban, lol.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/mlb/article-12839191/shohei-ohtani-toronto-blue-jays-frontrunners.html So this is kind of a wild story. Sources add, 'He needs a little more convincing for what many believe to be the inevitable of him joining the Dodgers, it is definitely not a guarantee.' Ohtani is hoping to make his decision before Christmas time and sources reiterate, 'it is really looking like Toronto will be the pick. It is going to take a tremendous offer and situation from another team for him not to choose Toronto.' Would be hilarious if a filthy rag like the Daily Mail broke this story but one of the guys on this byline (Fenner) is a sports writer from NY and the other (Weakland) is an entertainment reporter from LA that used to work for TMZ, where he broke some massive Hollywood stories like the Chris Brown/Rihanna DV case. Come home, Shohei.

Wasn't sure whether to add this or not (since I don't believe he works in finance and would have access to this information so I actually think he's just guessing) but as of two days ago he was estimating the offer to be somewhere in the 12/570 range and suggested that they believe the Dodgers have matched up to the years but not the dollars. Even that second bit seems unlikely to me, the Dodgers usually go shorter with higher AAVs so it's hard to believe they want a 12 year deal.

A little birdie told me an Ohtani decision could come Friday night (but the general range is 24-36 hours). "More than likely Friday night" is what the team was told for now. The Jays believe it's down to them, Dodgers, Angels and Mariners and that they've offered the most, but aren't sure if the other teams have their final offers in yet. Front office vibe is cautiously optimistic. Nothing else has happened yet because they had a singular focus on Ohtani, pivoted to Soto for a bit and then went back to all in on Ohtani. After the pitch meeting at the complex, they felt they had done all they could do there and began looking at other needs. Originally they were in a purely wait and see stance with Ohtani but they are at the point now where they feel ready to become active on other fronts. LaCava's team was asked to bring reports on 3B, RP, OF and lefty utility and that was worked on yesterday. Chapman is the only pending free agent they're considering bringing back, they feel Schneider, Biggio and Orelvis can replace the others. Looking to patch 3B/RP via trade but could consider a bigger name for the OF. Earlier off-season conversations included Bellinger, Candelario, Rosario, E-Rod, Miley, Joc, Frazier, Gurriel, Teoscar, Brantley and Lane Thomas. Thomas is one of the names that has resurfaced again in the new phase of discussions and was discussed heavily at the trade deadline. They came very close to reacquiring Teoscar at the deadline as well. Not sure if he's back on the radar now but other names to come up along with Lane Thomas since yesterday are Tyler O'Neill and Soler. Padres inquired about Vlad early on in Soto conversations and Jays immediately shut it down. When asked who else was untouchable in a Soto deal, Tiedemann was on that list. Package would have been built around Manoah. The reason there was so little information on Ohtani is because only a very select few of the most senior execs knew anything. Shapiro, Atkins, Starkman and Colabrese obviously among them. Beyond that small group, even upper level front office people were kept completely out of the loop to the point where even they didn't know where Ross was when he did his press conference. Upper management wasn't briefed on Ohtani until this morning and that's where most of this was shared. Also, Yamamoto has personally requested a meeting with the Jays and according to the source, that's somewhat unusual and that these types of requests are usually extended by the teams. Won't know until it happens how accurate any of this is but the person has never had bad information before. - TL

I said in the past that I wouldn't return to this forum if my main account wasn't unbanned but Buster Olney today vomited out the worst piece of writing I've ever seen in my life and it immediately reminded me of this place. This is probably the one community that could give this bile the utter roasting that it deserves, so I knew I had to share it here (and maybe it's already been posted and discussed and if that's the case then f*** me I guess). Enjoy. - TL https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39049998/shohei-ohtani-secret-free-agency-mlb-dodgers-blue-jays

TL here, hope y'all are well. Feels weird to not be covering the draft on this forum with all my trackers and stuff for the first time in like eight years lol, but I'll still be making those BPA graphics and charts and stuff for tomorrow and sharing either via reddit or most likely Discord. Will also try to figure out a place to post a signing table/tracker after the draft. If any of you want any of that shared with you, just DM me on reddit (twistedlogicx) or add me on Discord (@sedition)! Much easier to reach on Discord.

Lol thanks but this account was a one day thing, I have no intention or desire to start over.

Thanks, I actually have been waiting for this info for the payroll tracker, lmao. The only number that matters as far as the luxury tax goes is the AAV. So even if they gave him $50M in signing bonuses, paid him $6M in year one, $4M in year two and $3M in year three, the contract would still count as a flat $21M per year for luxury tax purposes.

Also lol, I forgot Terminator existed until I logged out of my banned account today and this guy is still writing passionate love letters about comments I made like 10 months ago. Hate to break your heart, Term, but not only am I taken, my wife might actually get jealous if she found out how much you care about me. Good luck continuing your search somewhere else for that validation you so deeply desire.

I was clear with BTS from the start with that league and how I might approach it. I made lineup changes when I could and made claims when I could but I was overwhelmed and out of my depth because it was a team I didn't build, had no chance of contending in the near future, and everyone else in the league was an experienced fantasy veteran which made it intimidating to look into making trades. I had never been in a categories league before and the way categories work for fantasy, it's not conducive to me and the way I process information. The reason I was excited about the league I joined after was because I was with other fantasy noobs like myself, it was a group of people that I get along with well and who've never not treated me with respect, and because it was a simple points league that was a lot easier for me to parse as someone new to fantasy. I told BTS on several occasions that I didn't mind stepping out of that forum league if there was a more engaged owner interested in taking the spot.

I generally enjoy you and think you're one of the better people on this forum so I don''t want you to think that my reaction reflects how I feel about you. You're a good dude with lots of love to give, you've given out more thanks than pretty much the rest of this forum combined, lol. I just thought it was a s*** comment that should have been removed. I've never involved myself with any of the petty stuff between you and connor because I just assumed it's a shtick but I thought that specific comment was too far. Jeff Dunham sux.

All that's left for me to say is that I don't hold grudges and I don't have anything against anyone here. It was nice to find this place in 2013 and despite all the s*** that's happened over the years, I'm glad I found it. If anyone wants to reach me, they can dm me on reddit (twistedlogicx); even though I'm not nearly as active there as I once was, I'll eventually respond. I do enjoy covering the draft and in all the years since I joined this site, even when I wasn't an active contributor, I tried to do at least that much. Now that I've grown a habit of it, I'll probably find a new way to do that, so if anyone is interested in finding wherever that is, just message me next year when that time comes. I don't know if Boxcar still posts here but the last thing I want to say is despite my conversations with Boxy early on in this site being probably the most contentious conversations I ever had here (and the main reason for me leaving once), he apologized to me years ago via DM and I've always appreciated the maturity it took do that and I wanted other people to know he did that. Hope I run into some of you folks elsewhere on the internet. Cheers.

Right on the money. The average sports redditor is an idiot and is more interested in repeating whatever the most popular idea is at the time to pick up upvotes, even if they know nothing on that topic. Places like this are much better for sustained, "productive" conversations (as far as you can use the word productive to describe sports talk). But reddit's anonymity has its own appeal. A place where you can build rapport with people is also a place where you can build bad blood with them. Me and the way people feel about me here is a perfect example of that.

Bringing up that "Go buy yourself an Achmed wife and get yourself blown up" might be a problematic comment is not race-baiting. That's the most blatantly bigoted s*** I've ever read outside of places like right-wing twitter and Donald Trump subreddits. If that was meant as a joke, it still deserved to be removed for being aggressively unfunny. Jeff Dunham? Seriously? Oh and btw CD, It's okay to admit that you're still holding a grudge because I didn't accept your garbage trade proposals while I was in the league. I'm not in there anymore. I can't hurt you. Just between the Blue Jays and NBA subreddits that I moderate, there are over 6 million people subscribed and more than 50 moderators across just those two subreddits. Given the kind of things people say about us on a daily, hourly, even per-minute basis on that website, just the possibility of a single one of our 50+ moderators being this soft actually gives me anxiety just from imagining the damage someone with mod power could do there if they were this easily wounded. So, I came back in mid-November, saw a wildly offensive comment a month later and made a passive-aggressive remark about that comment still being live 5 hours later while mods were actively participating in that thread, and that makes me antisocial. Not the guy who permanently banned me because I figuratively used the word "job" to describe their role as a community moderator. Thanks for the diagnosis, good doctor.
