I remember thinking to myself, "Yeah, they're winning the world series" after they swept the Yankees in 4. You could just tell this team had "it", whatever "it" is.
Cease would be nice. Durable, strikes out batters. Age 30 season next year. Could come out of the bullpen in a game 7 and throw some filthy innings.
Ranger Saurez is nice as a lefty that doesn't allow home runs. Probably cheaper than Cease as well.
I think the only thing that could absolve this pain is rematching the Dodgers in the world series next year and defeating them in an equally painful way. Maybe with Ohtani Yamamoto and Sasaki giving up handfuls of runs every game and leaving MLB in disgrace.
You're not alone, friend. That night I couldn't sleep until 3 am and when I woke up it was the first thing on my mind. I've never cried from sports before but laying in my bed watching the post game interviews of guys like Ernie Clement hit hard.
It definitely is the worst kind of pain. I don't think anything could ever top it. Which in a way is good? All of us are hardened for the future. No matter what happens, nothing will ever be as bad as this loss. It's all up from here!
