I said in my post above that Ray is an above average pitcher. Count me as skeptical to believe someone who has a career year during their walk season is likely to keep that pace up. It's going to be a tough call. I'm a much bigger believer in Semien as being able to keep his level of play up going forward since he's already done it. I think Ray fills a more important need but Semien is the safer bet. I don't think neither of these guys will give us an type of discount to come back. Let's hope Shatkins can strike a reasonable deal for both.

Our top 8 today should be in the lineup practically everyday. It is the best overall team we can put out there.

Agreed that it's not that easy because if it were, there wouldn't be so many bad contracts out there. For me, I think Ray is an above average pitcher but I'm not declaring him an elite pitcher until he does this for another season or two. I hope his contract reflects that if he comes back here.

By not thinking one dominant season in a contract year will be the expected norm going forward lol.

And then in 2 years, we'll be saying the same thing about Ray lol. Pitchers as long term investments just suck unless you're the Kershaw's/Scherzer's/Cole's of the world.

I want to give Bo some credit for drastically improving his defense from the start of the year. I, along with some others, were really hard on him but did realize there would be some growing pains required to know if Bo was really meant for the SS position. Good on him! -

I think the backup plan would be trying to get one of the SS's but worst case, we throw Biggio back at 2B and go get ourselves a real 3B.

Gotta give it to Bo man... he went from looking overmatched at SS to looking pretty damn good there.

Ya, so many of his hits that were homers before his injury are now lazy flyballs. Aside from that one huge homerun against the Orioles, he's been pretty bad.

Many of his fly outs would be homers. Guy just doesn't generate enough power on his swings because of the knee. It's so damn obvious man.

Felt like we should have gotten him in the trade with us tossing in Biggio to make things fair. Still pisses me off the Dodgers got Turner and Scherzer together.

I actually love that we get to split up Berrios and Manoah with our lefties. Gives the other teams a different look on each day without them getting comfortable since Manoah/Berrios have some similarities being righties with a nasty slider. -
