    The strategy came from James Click, Schneider said so himself. They discussed it with Berrios prior to the game & he was on board with it. That said, it's was a fire-able offense IMHO. If the manager couldn't see that Josè was pitching the game of his life & wasn't willing to take a risk on a game of that magnitude, then he shouldn't be the one making the call.

    I'm disappointed but until we know the actual offer I'm holding off on judging the outcome. I'm honestly not sure how much higher than 450 I'd be willing to go. Passan said he turned down a lot of money. A lot. Ortiz thinks he's worth 585 over 15 years. I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be with that unless the adjustment he made last year sticks & he continues to put up monster numbers. I'm also not sold on the notion that once he gets his payday that he'll continue to take his conditioning seriously, this is after all a guy who stated that he doesn't work on his defense during the offseason. I think Blair has the right idea, let him go to free agency & see what offers are out there. He may find out that other teams aren't willing to pay him what he thinks they will. Ugh, I'm dreading having to listen to Buck Martinez all season long talking about not getting a deal done.

Didn't post it because you know, everyone's an insider there lol, anyhow, the guy said that Ed Rogers had authorized a $300MM payroll & was starting to get frustrated with the front office for sticking to their valuations. I wonder if they'll be a trade to clear some salary if another bat is signed or Ed's comfortable above the $300?

    Which has absolutely no bearing on payroll going forward so why bring it up? And yes I understand how deferred money works. I'm not expecting a $400MM payroll but to say we can't/won't run with the big spenders is a little premature IMHO.

    All 5 of Gurriel's RBI'S were scored against Freeland & Molina. The first two pitchers for Colorado who combined for 16 earned runs in 2.2 innings pitched between them. Maybe, just maybe, he wasn't facing their best pitchers 🤔

    From what Shapiro has stated, it doesn't sound like an ownership decision. He gets a budget every three years & he's free to spend it as he chooses. Given that the payroll falls to $142MM next year & lower still the following years maybe he's ok with paying a little more now? Either way I trust his judgement & unless Rogers announces they're cutting back I really don't think it's worth stressing over.
