  1. A lot of credit has to go to the Orioles, Royals and Marlins too...LOL.
  2. Don't screw this up Jays! Passing on Martin would be...ugh
  3. Yeah Martin falling to us would be too good to be true. Do we like Lacy?
  4. I'm struggling to think of elite potential HS OFers picked this high that fulfilled on their promise, but that's likely more to do with the small sample to choose from and a failure of memory. It shouldn't really deter them too much, but HS hitters still have huge a lot of bust potential compared to college players, even if they're a safer investment than HS pitching.
  5. Is Zac Veen a better prospect than Bubba Starling?
  6. Exactly. AA has shown that you can always flip some extra pitchers you collected for an aging knuckleballer (ok maybe not the best example).
  7. Putting Meyer on the big league team would be very different from the cautious development paths they've had for other prospects. I'd be very surprised.
  8. I don't know, the Pirates may never win again, so the Jays might need to go 2-4 or worse, and they're facing the Orioles...
  9. Damn Todd, I have no clue who you could be talking about.
  10. These days, I like to look at xWOBA against for pitchers, to see if they've been lucky and/or helped/hurt by a great defense behind them. MLB average for pitchers is .318 Available - xWOBA 2019 (2018) ---National League--- Hamels - .333 (.339) Hill - .271* (.307) Wheeler - .303 (.278) Wood - .370* (.293) Roark - .336 (.318) Keuchel - .325 (.295) ---American League--- Odorizzi - .299 (.338) Miley - .297 (.307*) Gibson - .330 (.316) Porcello - .337 (.311) Bailey - .320 (.366) --Trash Heap--- Smyly - .368 (n/a) ---Blue Jays--- Thornton - .332 (n/a) Shoemaker - .334* (2017: .352) Waguespack - .351 (n/a) * = small sample, don't trust these numbers It won't take much for the available pitchers to be an upgrade to what we've got (am hoping for good seasons from Thornton, Kay and Shoemaker, and I'm assuming Zeuch and Wag suck). I think the smart money would be on betting on Odorizzi (rise in FB velo) and/or Miley (now throws mostly cutters) as they'll be relatively cheap. I'd like the Jays to spend on Wheeler, but have no faith they'll take the risk. Let alone going after Ryu, or even Cole.
  11. Guys with his strikeout numbers rarely hit the ball often enough at higher levels to make a difference.
  12. Putting Austin Martin at 12 seems kinda crazy? Hitting .432/.514/.641 in the SEC should get you into the top 5, most likely? Obviously we don't know if he'll have a down season next year, but at this point in time I have a hard time believing that there are seven high schoolers that are better picks than Martin.
  13. Orelvis homered in both games of a doubleheader in the GCL, and Hiraldo homered for Bluefield. They are both very young, and very far away, but it's still great to have guys like these performing well.
  14. Oh my god Alford is finally going to claim the top spot. :o
  15. Vlad and Biggio 1B/DH lol.
  16. Savant (statcast data) has Biggio's hit at .100 xBA and Bichette at .270. Aided by the small park.
  17. Boshers can locate his breaking balls better than Diaz or Reid-Foley their fastballs lol.
  18. High strikes to big guys aren't called often, instead they get low strikes called against them as if they were smaller than they are. Chris Davis is pretty big.
  19. Reid-Foley seems like a good replacement for Sanchez in the fight for a top 5 draft pick.
  20. Hi there, welcome! I'm from across the channel but I came into Blue Jays fandom same as you did, except more than 15 years ago, so I know quite a lot by now. Feel free to ask anything you want to know, however stupid it may sound and I'll try to find a football analogy for you. Btw, what football team do you support?
  21. Well then, that was a short major league career.
  22. And we're looking more and more likely to miss out on the top 3, maybe even top 5. *sniff* Do you think this'll be a deep draft class BlueRocky?
  23. But that's not what the poster you quoted is doing. He's just saying he doesn't blame them. I'm not assuming racism myself, both Marcus and Keith just seem to have bad blood with the Blue Jays' FO in general. But the quote was definitely an attack on Stro's personality and it's not too far-fetched to think that racism *could* have played a role. Quote seemed toxic as f***. People on the internet can say whatever they think about Marcus of course, it's very much okay not to like him. But you expect some professionalism from people in the FO, that's just part of the job.
  24. It's like he heard you Ang. Three walks in one game! .314/.377/.539. He's still got the biggest hurdles ahead of him, so I hope he conquers those before Atkins even thinks of trading him. Talking about catchers, Phil Clarke hadn't done too much with the bat lately, so a 4-for-5 night with a double and a walk sounds great to me. .309/.413/.441 with 10/10 K/BB.
